Excellent device for those who are handicapped and need a device to be held for you
I wasn't sure if this product would work so I held off reviewing it until I had used it for a month. For me this product is wonderful. I use it daily to hold my phone or my tablet as I work or am just out and about in my power wheelchair. I would have given this 5 stars but there were 2 problems.1. The rubber on the vice grips holding the device onto the chair kept coming off. I replaced this with a cut inner tube I wrapped around the post this is fastened to on my chair and it has stayed put ever since.2. The flexible tubing is sturdy and goes right were I put it until I move it again. However where the tubing is connected to the vice grips kept coming loose. I haven't fixed this yet as it is only slightly loose and a minor nuisance.

Think carefully...
First the good: This holds my Amazon Paperwhite Kindle perfectly. I think it will hold almost anything from a phone to a tablet. The construction is very solid. Now the bad: The clamp has rubbery things to make it non-slip; however the first thing that happened to me is they dislodged leaving behind the sticky stuff which held them on. I think this is because I mounted it with the gooseneck horizontal, which twisted the clamp. So I would recommend mounting this vertically, as shown in the picture. I have it on my bed headboard but it's still a challenge to find a comfortable reading angle given it's just a little too short for this configuration. Perhaps I should have bought the floor stand version -- sigh.I'd still recommend this unit but make sure you have in mind a good place to clamp it. A horizontal surface is best. Be careful how you position the reader or you will twist the clamp and mess it up like I did.

Convenient
I like the standout they do a good job with these mounts. I have the regular stand model that actually lasted about 3 years before the slide finally snapped. Its made of plastic and after time I guess it wears out. I only used an 8in. tablet on it. I was able to save it by installing a magnet right in the circle part. Its now like a mounting solution that are for cell phone car mounts in cars and its much easier to remove and put on. If they can change it to magnets rather that the slide it would make it much easier to put on and remove. The adjustable neck and mount work great.

Best iPad stand I've ever used! Everybody wants one
This is the best stand I've ever used.I had long wanted a stand to let me raise my iPad closer to eye level, to reduce neck strain. This was the only stand I found that was portable and let me raise the iPad well above the Starbucks table I like to camp out at.The mechanism to latch the stand to a table works beautifully, and fits every table I've tried to hook it to. The gooseneck is almost infinitely adjustable, and always holds its position, never drooping. I pair it with a Bluetooth keyboard and enjoy my coffee as the iPad practically floats in the air above me. (See attached photos.)Literally every time I set it up, the people around me look on with wonder. They tell me what a great idea it is. They ask me what it's called, and where they can get it!It's always nice when my nerdy tendencies put me at the Vanguard of Cool! :)When it's time to leave Starbucks, I remove my iPad, quickly dismantle the stand, and bend it up and put it in my backpack.HIGHLY recommended.β*UPDATE, 5 years later*I still love this stand. π€ I use it every day to read the paper on my iPad while lounging on the couch. And honestly it seems fairly indestructible: I accidentally forgot about it outside for months, and it was battered by rain, snow, and UV β and it still works perfectly. The only negative is that because of the long gooseneck, the screen will bounce when you tap it. So just be gentle, OR do what I did, and stabilize the bottom with a cheapo iPhone stand. Now this thing NEVER wobbles.Still highly recommended!

Allows for sliding in portrait orientation
I had the previous version of this product which had the corner holders on the mountplate. That worked well in either portrait or landscape orientation. The little grippy pads on the new mount are too slick and allow the iPad (even the lightweight iPad 6th gen) to slip out of the mount in portrait orientation. This may be mitigated by the use of an exterior case, but even if it is, I shouldnβt have to buy one. The problem is a design flaw and could have been corrected by adjusting the size of the spring arm to allow the iPad to be unclipped and reoriented manually. As it is, the mount isnβt tall enough to allow secure mounting in portrait orientation.

Strong and Stable, hard to move
It strength is its weakness. It is difficult to move once it is in place, no swivel no nothing to make it easy to adjust just brute strength. I would have like to seen a swivel so i could move it out of the way, but there is none

Recommended, but be cautious of your tablet size.
Not a bad mount - nice and sturdy, and well able to take the weight of a heavy tablet (e.g., a first generation iPad). However, check the size carefully - it will not hold a large (again, iPad1) tablet in vertical mode. The workaround I wound up using was a small strip of stainless steel from the hobby store, bent into a bracket to support the bottom and hooking onto the clamp.Certainly worth the expense, to get a few more years life out of an old tablet... now in use as a home controller.

she said its sturdy but the neck is not long enough to read ...
Purchased for my sister, she said it's sturdy, but the neck is not long enough to read the iPad in bed. If the neck was longer than 18", it would work great. I Previously purchased the floor model, but it doesn't hold iPad Air without purchasing an additional attachment for $24.99 but my sister said that the Floor model was also a bit short in reaching when reading on bed. Both the clamp model and the floor model work well when sitting in a chair or at a desk.

This is an awesome item! Very sturdy and secure
This is an awesome item! Very sturdy and secure. I had been looking for an IPAD stand for my daughter and searched everywhere. This is the best stand on the market. It prevents the formation of "IPAD Neck" in kids that otherwise have their devises in their laps. Can say enough about how well this item works - should be mandatory for anyone using devises, to prevent neck strain.

Quality!
Really heavy sturdy and strong. This is a quality piece of equipment. Definitely worth the money. The neck us stiff and a bit hard to position but the good part is that it stays exactly where you position it.

Clamps are poor quality.
Have had product for a few days and the rubber pads on clamp have already come off. Not good quality.
