How can this possibly be 4000w when the us standard is 120v 15a or 1800 watts? if you tried to draw 4000 watts, it would certainly trip the breaker.

I don’t know how all I can tell you is my experience with this unit. Previously I had an 1800 watt, when it went out I wanted something more powerful but I was constricted with a 120 receptacle! I bought this months ago and use it daily (both burners operating at same time) with no problems, no tripped breakers and it is much more powerful! I’m not sure the size of the amps on the breaker it’s on. All I can tell you is I would highly recommend it. I love it!

Can the cooktop accept smaller pots and pans and still heat?

It’s worked fine for me! No problem with whatever size I’m using!

Can you use pans that are not magnetic?
