The frame is simple but full proof. Prior to having the frame the child 7+ would struggle to keep the strands of parachord from twisting and the results were inconsistent. With the loom minimal help is needed for the child to create satisfying results.One difficulty is just reading the directions. I needed a magnifying glass. Tiny white font on black is difficult. Please consider putting a set of paper instructions.

I love the fact it wasn't girl colors. We are giving it to our 11 year old crafty son for christmas . it was almost impossible to find a set that wasnt pink or purple . the solid wood of the jig looks durable and after looking at instructions it looks like its going to be easy and fun! I cant wait to see him open this hes going to be so happy to finally make his own.

If you're looking to get into doing paracord items on a long-term basis, you might want to invest in something sturdier. This one is geared toward kids, that's for sure. It's not real durable, but then, it's not very expensive either. It's a good starter item, though. Gives you what you need to do a few bracelets. It's adjustable, but if you're planning on using larger clips than the small ones that come with it, you'll need to unscrew each side and replace the working clips with larger ones. When I did this, the screw stripped so if I pulled on it at all, it would come out. Not a big deal. Glue worked (but then you won't be able to adjust the clip later on).So, it's fine if you're going to do just a few of them or if you're just learning. But if you plan on making this a long-term hobby, I recommend you spend more to get a better one.

Got this as a reward for our son for getting good grades in school. He loves making bracelets and key chains for himself and as gufts for others. It keeps him busy doing something creative rather than being engrossed in electronics or watching tv.

The media could not be loaded. Overall, it's a great little jig. The ruler on the side is pretty spot-on and the bolt/washer/wingnut combo seem to hold it in place pretty well.What makes me give it three stars is that one end is not secured very well; The good news is, there's a relatively easy (and cheap) fix - Glue it. Use some wood glue, and it should be nice and sturdy. If you're on the handier side, a screw or two will be more than enough to keep it in place.My only other (small) complaint is that, while there's two sets of clasps attached to the jig, they're the exact same size. This is fine if you're using all one size, however I think I'll be adding my own 1/2" clasps in place of one of the sets, which is as simple as unscrewing 2 screws and putting the new ones in!
