You can do this and save a lot on the repair.
Easy to replace, exact fit and function. Use white lithium grease, eases installation. A helper to hold the hatch open makes the process much easier. There are many YouTube videos that demonstrate the removal and installation.

These are after-market lifters for the rear hatch on my 2011 Lexus RX350. They were very easy to install using the included documentation (there is also a U-Tube video available). They fit exactly and are working perfectly. I previously installed lifters for the hood of my car that were made by this company, and they have been operating perfectly for some time now.l

They fit perfectly and are working well on a 350RX Lexus.
These fit my car better than the former set. They took about 15 minutes to figure out and install. My shop was going to charge $75 for the installation. To their credit they mentioned I could do it myself.
