Gear locks with the thumb button, and the switch to slide forward locks it. A good length gives my dog that little extra freedom without me worrying about her running too far.

For my pup this works very well, although I personally prefer a longer leash. So far the chewability and durability are holding up well.

Quite convenient, although The leash is made of cloth. It does as stated. Although it is quite sensitive and can be easily damaged, your pet could chew into the leash beings of the material it's made of It provides as stated. No issues with a product at this time, although it could be made of much better quality

My dog is easier to walk with this leash. She doesn't like to get too far ahead or away from my side and this give me flexibility when one of us. speeds up. I enjoy our walks much better now.

I actually really liked this and was sad it died. We used it for 6 months before it died. Our dog, Duke, is about 100 lbs and loves to run off. One evening when my son took Duke out to walk, he saw another dog and bolted. (Duke, not my son. My son hasn't bolted after a strange dog in several years, so he no longer wears a leash😉.) Instead of pressing the button to stop the leash unspooling, my son allowed it to pull all the way out. When it was fully extended, Duke yanked the leash out of his hands and ran off. This broke the retraction mechanism and we had to open the case to retract the leash manually. I feel like a retracting leash made for a dog this big (yes, we had the right size) should be reinforced against this kind of thing. There are several simple modifications I can think of that would accomplish this, and I'll be trying them out on my own.SUMMARYPro's: comfortable grip, durable case, smooth extension and retraction, release button very simple, strong leash materialCon's: retraction broke after 6 months from one strong yank Leashes have to be replaced, but I'd hoped to get at least a year out of this one. While it worked, it worked extremely well. I may consider this again in the future, but I'd like something a little better suited for a very large dog who thinks he's a puppy (or a really hairy tank). My opinion? Unless your dog is very large and overactive, this is a great choice.

Doesn’t have an option of opening the area where the leash is held when it gets twisted up inside.Still is an excellent quality product though.
