When I found this rope light on Amazon the description sounded like the perfect item to replace old LED "fairy" lights around my deck. The waterproof rating made me believe these would be really reliable. I spent about three hours putting these new rope lights up around my deck. I did it with them plugged in so I could be sure they continued to function as it was a lot of work to get them installed just so. I used insulated 1/2" staples to hold them in place. About two hours into the job, some of the lights flickered. Some came back on, some stayed off. I could actually see a burned resistor inside the clear tubing at the point where about a 4 ft section went out. There were two other, smaller, sections that also went out but I couldn't see any burned resistors or other burn marks inside the tubing. I presume those were opens rather than shorts. I was able to route and orient the rope so the defective sections were either not visible (tucked up under the edge of the deck) or were not too obvious (behind some big flower pots). Now that the job is done and the lights have been on 24/7 for over a week I still like them. They are just the right amount of light and the warm white color is nicer than any blue white lights would have been. I do believe the rope will be waterproof and should hold up well outdoors. I suspect the failures of some sections were due to flexing and bending of the rope lights as I installed them. I was careful not to make any sharp bends and I certainly did not shoot any staples through the rope as I was fastening it to the deck. Perhaps I should have installed with power off but I wanted to make certain that the lights were working when I started the job and continued to work as they were installed. If you buy these just be very careful in your handling of the rope as you install it. If the three sections had not gone dark during installation these lights would have been perfect. And no, there is not a remote control with these rope lights. Just plug in the little power supply and the lights come on and stay on until you unplug them.

I'm obSESSED with these lights! The walls in my bedroom are pretty bare and I don't have a headboard, but I wanted something to go above my bed. I paired these curtain lights with a sheer curtain and I couldn't be more pleased! The combo adds a really ethereal look to my room.The remote control is a godsend because now I can illuminate my room from the doorway, rather than fumbling in the dark to turn on a lamp. (There are no ceiling lights in my room.) Many of the settings can be...a lot...so I usually keep it just on the steady, unchanging setting, but I like having the option! I also like that I can dim or brighten the lights depending on the mood. And the lights are bright enough that I don't need other light in the room which is awesome!I have 2 issues, but I was able to resolve them both so they're non-issues at this point, but I feel they're worth mentioning in case they're deal breakers for other people. There is a big ol' black black box that dangles from the top of the lights connecting to the power cord. It can be quite unsightly since it's in the middle of the cord and not like, resting on the floor. But I simply wrapped it around the curtain rod and taped it in place so it's not as noticable. Also, there are tiny hooks at the top of each string of lights. They look like they're made to to hook to a string or wire, so they were much too small for my use with a curtain rod, so they became more of a nuisance than helpful. But to install the lights I simply wrapped the wires around the curtain rod, rather than hooking them to it.All in all, I'm so happy I made this purchase!

I was looking for chasing lights. These are not chasing!! Very disappointed. I like the bright white color however, I am not at all impressed with the choice of blinking modes. I kept them only because it was too much of a hassle to have to return them.I would not buy them again.

Wer put this in our tree. Wer ended up having to get more. We bought 32ft string and 2x50ft strings. Our 7ft tree is in 3 sections. The 32ft barely filled the top section. The 2x50ft filled up the middle section perfectly. Now we're waiting on 2 more 50ft for the bottom section. We tested what wer have so far and it looks AWESOME!

These lights are super bright and long. They don't seem like they're made out of cheap material and it is easy to switch from one mode to the other so that they stay on blinking or just on to other varied patterns. They for sure are LED. I put them up to hang down with curtains I have and it looks great. Overall I like these a lot!

OK I thought the lights would be warm white and have a sparkle function. That's how they're described by the seller.They are in fact stark ice-cold bright white, and there is nothing remotely resembling a sparkle function. These lights blink wildly like disco strobes. Most disconcerting. I went through the circuit several times hoping I was wrong about this, but I'm not. There's nothing soft or sparkly about any of the functions, no matter how many there actually are.Because hey: There aren't eight separate functions. That's simply not true. Not that I needed eight functions; I didn't. But don't SAY there are eight when there aren't. There are more like three. And all unattractive, in my opinion.I sent these back and went to Lowe's for warm yellow-white sparkling twinkling beguiling lights for my tree. Which is what I should have done in the first place.

I have floor to ceiling windows in my apartment (~9 foot ceilings) and these looked great! I got them for Diwali but they looked so great that I left them up through New Years. I received a lot of compliments.
