Be sure to use the driver disk.
I plugged this in to my dell i660s so I could add another hard drive for recorded video. Windows 7 recognized the card immediately and was working fine, I played a few videos and then accessed a few videos from a streaming box, all was good. On a whim, I put the included disc in the drive, went to device manager and asked it to update the driver. It chose a new Marvell driver and again, all was good. I played the same videos and then accessed the same videos from a streaming box, this is where the new driver excelled, the video was clearly loading faster as evidenced by the play bar. Hope it holds up, but absolutely worth the $10 I paid. It included regular bracket, low profile bracket (I needed) and it even included an SATA cable!!!

Windows will not boot with card installed
When I attached drives to it, windows would not load. The card shows up when bios is loading, and the Marvell chipset shows, with the drives connected to it listed right there. Then, bios freezes, or something like that, because the motherboard's splash screen does not hit and the computer just hangs. I checked boot order and my Samsung SSD is listed as first, just like normal. Missed my return window or I'd definitely be sending this piece of crap back (it is a piece of crap because it was replacing another working card that had one of its SATA connectors broken off). And now I just read another review saying this card does NOT work with Windows 10. So I guess not booting just saved me some frustration.Edited to clarify that my SSD (which is my OS drive) is not connected to this card, but instead directly to one of the motherboard's SATA ports. So even though the OS drive is not connected to this card, somehow it still manages to block loading of Windows 10.

Once installed into a PCIe 1/1x with a Samsung 850 EVO drive works good, even using as a boot drive
IO Crest SI-PEX40061Plugged it into a old nforce 430/6150SE motherboard with SATA II, does not support AHCI or many of the SSD advances. Once installed into a PCIe 1/1x with a Samsung 850 EVO drive works good, even using as a boot drive. Other bit of good news once the drive was plugged into the SI-PEX40061 Samsung magician detected the drive and everything seems to work. Where as with the onboard SATA II magician would not correctly detect the drive at all.

Experience running under Windows 10
I hope my comments, below, may help other users get this adapter card running smoothly under Windows 10.I have an Acer desktop system with a Core i5 6400 CPU running Windows 10 Professional, and when I installed this Marvell 9128-based SATA adapter it immediately worked and gave me access to the connected 1TB hard drive. However, I did notice a couple of abnormalities:- Device Manager had an entry under “Other devices” that was apparently referring to the adapter card and indicated that no driver had been installed for that device.- The attached 1TB hard drive was listed as a removable device under “Safely remove hardware...”.The mini-CD that came with this card did not include any Windows 10 drivers, and I could not locate any on the Marvell website. After a bit of searching, however, I located an article entitled “Marvell 91XX Sata Controller 6GB Driver for Windows 10 1.2.0.1047” which provided a link to download a Windows 10 WHQL certified driver. I used the “Download Now” link to download the file “Marvell_SATA_V1.2.0.1047.zip” which I then un-ZIPed into the directory “Marvell_SATA_V1.2.0.1047”. There were not any obvious instructions, but I took a chance and executed the file “AsusSetup.exe” that was in the root of the “Marvell_SATA_V1.2.0.1047” directory. This file only ran for a second and did not generate any messages. Thereafter, though, the entry under “Other device” was gone AND under “System devices” there was the entry “Marvell 91xx Config Device” with the associated driver “C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\mv91cons.sys”, File version “1.2.0.1041”, from Marvell Semiconductor Inc. and digitally signed “Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility”.Installing the above driver seems to have eliminated all the question marks in Device Manger. Now, to keep the attached hard drive from showing up as a removable device I used the Registry “tweak” approach outlined in a Microsoft support article entitled “Internal SATA Drives show up as removable media”. Basically, this “tweak” involves adding a “TreatAsInternalPort” entry that defines which SATA devices (identified by bus #) should NOT be treated as removable drives. In my case I had to specify bus #0 (the hard drive) and bus #7, the Marvel config device. These bus numbers will probably vary from system to system.Even though this card is now running fine, I’m deducting a star because no Windows 10 driver (or instructions for obtaining the driver were included). Also, as others have pointed out, the mounting bracket is a bit too tall for comfortable installation.

Works with Windows 10
When this arrived, the doc said it only supported up to Windows 7. I needed it for Windows 10. I installed it (you can fit it in a PCIx16 slot, by the way, although its footprint is 1x). I dropped the mini CD in DVD drive, navigated to the install for Windows 7. Ran the install program. Rebooted. Windows 10 had found the drivers, an it appeared as a Marvel 91XX 6GB STAT controller in device hardware. I had installed it to connect the E SATA connector on top front of my PC. I plugged in a Roswell with a 1 TB drive. It recognized it immediately upon powering the external drive on. I deleted old partitions, created a new simple volume, formatted. It worked. With Windows 10.UPDATED: Does NOT work in Windows 10. OK, after the first success above, it never worked again on Windows 10. Computer Mangement Disk Management hangs trying to load virtual disk system, a drive is recognized in Windows Explorer, but it hangs, is inaccessible. Just does not work with Windows 10. I just bought and installed StarTech PEXESAT322i model adapter, downloaded latest Asmedia_ASM1061 drivers from StarTech website, connected the adapter to external SATA port, connected drive in Roswell cage, and it worked immediately. So you have Windows 10, go tet the 322i model, not this older model. It does not work on Windows 10.

High Performance, Affordable RAID 0.
I am using this to RAID stripe two solid state drives, and it works great! I only put programs on the RAID, so they load extremely fast! I ran some benchmarks, and I'm easily able to read 500 MB/s.

Ottima scheda interna
Ottimo adattatore per aumentare il numero di porte sata del mio computer fisso. Ha funzionato senza problemi fin dal suo primo montaggio. W10 ha provveduto autonomamente al reperimento dei driver.

Works Great but Bracket too long
I needed another SATA3 Hard Drive port since I already used all 6 on my motherboard. This card works great and it didn't require any custom drivers or setup under Windows 8.1.The only issue that I ran into is the bracket is 1/2 a centimeter too long, so I couldn't use the original backplate screw and I had to locate another spare longer screw to hold the card in place. And yes, the card is fully seated into the PCIe slot. How the manufacturer messed this one up I have no idea.

Five Stars
Perfect for a miniITX NAS build with only 2 ports on the motherboard.

Slow and longer startup time
It slowed down the HDD read and write performance by 30% with only one port in use. I also noticed longer startup duration. I thought It would give me a better performance by upgrading from sata 2 (3gbps speed) connector on my motherboard to a sata 6 card with 5gbps/300MBps max speed of the pcie 2.0 x 1. I also don't like the additional boot screen that the card is showing during after the first boot screen. The Startech.com pcie sata card would be a better option. The price is good though.
