Beautiful dishes
I bought this set (Matisse) to replace dishes that are 32 years old and showing their age. I wanted something different, something that would go well with various cobalt blue handmade serving dishes that I have collected over the years. These are as beautiful in person as in the photos, arrived undamaged and quickly. Not sure why I was charged $12 more for them last week but I was. I can't speak to their durability since I just received them but they are everything else I could hope for and look beautiful with my serving pieces. Love that they are not all exactly the same and love the big bowls instead of cups. Dinner plates are large, a good size and the luncheon plates also the right size, big enough for a little supper or a lunch. Very pleased so far with this set and I would highly recommend.

The product came with labels of the defects they had on them already
I actually love the plates and bowls look and everything but when I opened the original packaging and find they already have labels on ones telling me that they are defective I can not be happy with the product. Contacted the company directly and they actually tried to blame Amazon even though the box was still factory sealed. But thankfully Amazon is replacing them free of charge and in time for the holiday. So in end this company that makes these has crap customer service and poor quality control, and won't even take responsibility or anything but Amazon always fixes any issue even when it isn't caused by them it seems.

Great Quality Bone China under $100
I have had these plates now for about 3 months and so far not a single complaint. Bone porcelain china is extremely durable, easy to wash and has that brightest translucent value. Photographing food on these plates makes everything look good.I see some complaints about breakage, and irregularities. I am not sure how to break them, I mean they are China so at some point they will chip or crack but I compare the durability to Corning Corelle, more durable than my far more expensive prior china.Again -- this is china, it is not steel or cast iron. Not recommended for Frat boys, little kids, dropping on tile or cement floors, or driving over. Otherwise you are probably OK.

Beautiful dishes - no problems as seen in other reviews
These dishes are so pretty, and they are sturdy and fit well in the dishwasher as the large plates aren't as big as some modern dish sets. There were a lot of reviews complaining about the bottom of the dishes scratching the counter or other plates - we are not having this issue at all, so if this happens to you, I suggest you return your set and get a new one. The bottom of our dishes are sanded and very smooth, and may even have a thin clear matte finish on them, I can't tell. Some people complained about the bottom of the dishes not drying - we aren't having any issues with this either - they come out of the dishwasher dry - again this may be a defect with the finish. Ours are perfect! We've had them for a couple of months and they withstand the abuse of three children to boot!

Very pleased! And NO obligatory coffee mugs!
I love the color, quality, and fact that I had an option that didn't require the unneeded, unnecessary, unwanted coffee cups in the set! I wish there were more cup-less dishware set options out there. Very pleased with this purchase after several uses/dishwasher cycles.

Beautiful and Useful
These are beautiful dishes. I loved that they did not come with mugs, and instead have two kinds of bowls. The larger pasta bowl is slightly shallower than others I’ve had but still serviceable and not an issue at all. They all arrived in one piece, no breaks or chips. Also I don’t see the issue others have mentioned where the plates are getting marked easily. Maybe that is more of an problem with the white color.I like that the color is slightly different from piece to piece, it makes them look more like real handmade pottery. I also like that each kind of plate/bowl has a different pattern. Very cool set!

revised review
As I used the service I noticed that there were faint, pale lines in the finish that were noticeable from an angle on the dinner plates. I also noticed that the bottoms of the dinner plates were wavy rather than uniform. Then I noticed that knives would mar the finish. Not just steak knives but table knives, scratched the glazing terribly and I don't force the blade. Tonight I took a salad plate out of the cupboard and placed it on a wooden cutting board and it broke in two, following the curve of the raised rim at the bottom, much to my dismay. The set looks nice and I have received compliments on it, but it is expensive and a rather inferior product.

Beautiful and practical!
I have had these dishes for awhile now and they have been through the dishwasher many times, microwaved, put in the fridge, and they are holding up! The dishes themselves are beautiful, and if you buy multiple sets (I have 3, for a total of 12 place settings), the glaze will be slightly different because they are hand glazed which I personally love. They have been easy to clean and I love the size of them. The pasta bowls have been great for pasta dishes, stir fry, and even salad. The smaller bowls are a nice height and have worked well for soup, cereal, fruit, and cooked veggies to serve with dinner. These are versatile and practical, and there’s a reason they sell out quick! Looking forward to enjoying these for years to come.

Terrible value
I think these are beautiful dishes, and I love the larger bowl. I think it's a design that should be much more prevalent.I'd purchased two sets of these dishes for a complete set of 8. I already have major regrets over those purchases because I get the sense that they won't even last a year.I cannot recommend that anyone buy these dishes. It's said that they're stoneware, but they're exceedingly brittle. In just over a month of regular use, I've had two separate dishes shatter. One from just being placed on the table. These frustrations are amplified by the fact that they don't fit nicely in the dishwasher, so I'm forced to wash all the bowls (small and large) by hand. They're oddly slippery when wet, so take care.Overall, these are pretty, but they're awful value. I have been turned off making these purchases online, and I will insist on handling dishes in person before committing to a new set.

Two defective dishes ruin the whole set
Over all I love these plates and bowls. I was really excited to receive them today. I immediately washed them and put them away. However when I took one out in the evening I noticed a spot on one of the edges that wasn't coated properly. Essentially the inner material is bare on a spot that's three cm wide.Amazon customer service was courteous in offering to have me send back the plates for replacement, but I wasn't about to repackage 16 heavy items and haul them back to the post office (I use flex delivery and it's not close). Plus I had already taken apart all the cardboard. I also then noticed a white speck on another plate. It's like an annoying grain of sand stuck there forever (you have to look closely at the second picture to see it).In the end they gave me a partial refund. I had hoped they could replace the two plates in question, but I understand they can't be opening other sets in warehouse.Gibson elite seems to present their dinnerware as high end products. They charge a hefty price, yet their inspection standards are clearly really low. If I have two defective dishes out of sixteen this must be a pretty regular occurance. In the end they are the ones cheapening their product and their brand. I'd say the "elite" tag is not deserved. Maybe "Gibson half-assed" would be more suitable?

Love Love Love
This is a very pretty set, I’ve paired it with some Turquoise pieces from IKEA to add a splash of color. What I liked:- All pieces sit flat and have no imperfections.- The beading detail is pretty and easy to clean.- The plates are lightweight compared to my old stoneware set.- Bright white, and they’re easy to match with other pieces.- LOVE the pasta bowls ❤️- Really love the pasta bowls ❤️ ❤️What I didn’t like:- The label isn’t printed on the bottom, it’s only a sticker - annoying to pick off and no brand name after it’s removed! :(- I wish the cereal bowls would fit into each other so they don’t take as much space (I bought 2 sets)- They’re hot to the touch if used in microwaveThe dishes were very well packed, and shipped quickly. I recommend this set, and this vendor. 👍🏻

Faded at first wash!
I ordered three of this package. Should have never ordered from the beginning. The product is nice when they first arrive. Seems sturdy and heavy, nice shine and all that but as soon as I washed them in the dishwasher, the colour faded and when I was putting them away, just piling the plates up in the drawer, I chipped the plates!! Not worth my $ at all!!!!

Beautiful but pattern and glazing inconsistent
These are a beautiful color and pattern, and they seem very durable. They are quite a bit more expensive than other sets that I’ve seen, but to get something I truly loved it seemed worth it. Having both a cereal bowl and pasta bowl was definitely a selling feature for me, Vs having a bunch of mugs that we don’t need.My only complaint is that the glazing is very inconsistent. There were many problems where the white pattern (presumably done with a spray stencil) was blurred or overlapping—especially on the bowls. The depth of the blue color also really varies from one dish to the next, which was most visible on the large plates. And there were a fair number of dishes with little pits or other imperfections. To combat this we wound up purchasing 7 sets total and returning four, after picking through until we found enough we were happy with to complete 12 place settings.I would definitely recommend these dishes. That said, when you are paying $157/4 settings, if you want them to look nice without the hassle of having to pick through to find the best ones, these may not be for you.
