What strikes you at first is the ripe, jammy aroma of plums. It's a little surprising, since that's not the first scent that comes to mind when I think of Jamaica. It doesn't take long, though, for the flowers to show up, and they give the fragrance some breadth and balance. What I'm missing, however, is spice or wood: a dash of allspice maybe and bit of vetiver would give it some ballast. If I had an eleven year old daughter, she would love Kingston. It's sweet, fresh, and fun. To an old man like me, though, it seems a little flighty. I would be happy to wear it to a luau, but I hesitate to take it to the office.As an aftershave, Kingston's performance is really very good. Splash it on after your last pass and you'll feel a bit of warmth that contrasts nicely with the light fragrance. It's not sticky, so be generous with it.
