Green Canteen Raw Handmade Sugarcane Jaggery Vegan and Gluten Free (No Added Sugar, No Impurities, No Added Colour, No Added Preservatives) (500gm)

This is a long feedback but being a Jaggery lover and coming from a village background where I have seen Jaggery manufacturing myself , I could not stop myself.I hope this review will also help people who do not quite understand what a true raw Jaggery is and how it is different from commercial jaggery available in supermarkets.Pros :1) The Jaggery color is black , which means it is not processed with hydrochloric acid or Sulfur ( A common process for commercial Jaggery )2)Its taste is a little pungent , which means no white sugar , corn syrups and additives are mixed in this .3) If you mix this with milk and boil , the milk will sour , which is a characteristic of Raw Jaggery . So if you want to mix it in Milk , please  add jaggery at the end and do not keep the milk on the flame for a long time after adding it.Also  switch off the flame while mixing jaggery and milk. The acidity in the jaggery will curdle the milk if they boil together. 4) I fell in love with its packaging which is completely bio-degradable . A relief from all other commercial plastic packet death-beds options.5) This Jaggery seems to be collected directly by farmers . This is handmade and not manufactured in a commercial plant , which means buying this is also going to support those village farmers directly.Cons :1) I am not sure how long this will be available after the jaggery season . I just wish they maintain enough stocks.2) There is no bulk pagaging available ( 2 kg – 5 kg)3) I wish this gets available soon with organic certification also , though that may increase its price.Overall hats off to Green Canteen on launching a product which reminds me of my childhood days & a taste of real raw sugarcane jaggery ! It is Just YUM ! Try it once if you have not done it yet and see the difference in taste

As raw as you can get. It has pungent smell and dark color. Some may not like this fact

Initially i enjoyed the taste of jaggery and quality is good ,but it sour in tasteAfter few days my grandmother tasted it and said it very old jaggery,that's why it tastes sour

Only good thing was just the packaging.It will not be too harsh to say that this is the same jaggery which we used to give to our buffaloes.Nothing special, too dark (there is nothing wrong in being dark), there is strange bitterness which comes from being too old.I can get the same jaggery or even better from local shops in Haryana @ 35 ruppees per KG.What seller is doing is called loot.....they are selling the ordinary jaggery in the attractive packaging. People like us get attaracted when we see such packaging and believe that it must be natural, free from chemicals and something special.But guys this one is not worth to pay 9 times the price.One more thing....I received one A4 size note with the packaging claiming that if I put one more order directly at greeplanet.in I will get one KG jaggery free. The whole thing is fraud. It's not worth the price.

I just loved this jaggery! It tasted like what I used to have in my childhood. That intense taste and subtle aroma, its absolutely delicious! I finished off the whole packet in less than 2 weeks.. Can't wait to order another pack. :)

I had bought Green Canteen jaggery from Amazon - but the product turned out to be of inferior quality. Tasted like old stock. I called up the customer service of Green Canteen - I must admit, their service levels was awesome. 1st Ravi spoke to me to understand what the problem was, then a senior called to address the issue. Ravi called back to say - "We have dispatched the jagger & have also made arrangements to pick the amazon consignment." Ravi called me back to check how the new consignment tasted. Keep it up guys !!! Your product is just like your service levels - "Awesome".

There were thin shreds of plastic in the balls ..also there are lots of stone and sand like particles which you can see when you dissolve in water . I expect better quality for the amount we are paying- normal jaggery is around 80-90, we are paying triple..

Simply the best among the best ones I have had. I liked the home made feel but it's darker one. In my village it's little lighter ones. I like the lighter ones taste.Still the best. If you drink coffee then you can safely replace sugar with this.

Just fell in love with this product !I fell in love with this Jaggery. It was a completely different taste for me. All my life I bought Jaggery from commercial stores and it had that yellow look.Eating that piece always gave me a taste of eating something processed and something sugary .After seeing this as “Amazon’s choice” in India, I ordered it and it turned out to be a very sweet decision.The jaggery is dark brown in color , it just melts in your mouth .It had that raw pungent rustic taste which was new to me after eating chemicalised commercial jaggery for a long part of my life.I was blown away with the paper & palm packaging which is really a “green “offering ( No plastics ) from “Green Canteen”.This product is made & sold as handmade and not in a commercial plant , which means buying this also supports those farmers.I finished the full packet in 2 days flat :) :)

I have a strong sweet tooth and after eating white sugar for past few years , finally I was looking for better healthier options.Found this and it just melted in my mouth . The taste was a bit strong & quite Raw, but thats how low processed sugarcane juice is supposed to be which is very rare these days.I also liked the fact that the packaging was completely environment friendly without any plastics .It is claimed to be handmade which is quite true to its characteristics !If you have a sweet tooth like me , look no further ! Its just Yum !!

Having tried other jaggery products from the local grocery stores we did not expect much from this one, but to our surprise, this jaggery exceeded all our expectations. This jaggery is very good, both in form of taste as well as its ingredients. Nothing too complicated, simple and pure just as good jaggery should be. Delivered in good packaging, also the bag is re-sealable helping keep the jaggery fresh.

This raw sugarcane handmade Jaggery is a natural, handmade, unrefined and unprocessed jaggery directly sourced from farmers. I had first brought this in India and now it is also available in the US.It is an ideal option for my sweet cravings. We have replaced our sugar to Jaggary a while back and this is a perfect addition.Love the packaging.

After searching for a good product for a long time, I finally found what I was looking for. This product has a great flavor, texture and best of all is free from harmful chemicals. I used this jaggery to make peanut and almond brittle with great success. My kids loved it! Not only was the product very good, the product arrived in good time and in perfect condition.
