GOOD GARDENING INFORMATION FOR DESERT DWELLERS
This is a very good resource for people who live in the desert Southwest and want to garden. With the summer heat gardening can be a real challenge, but this book is a great guide for just about everything you need to know. We are in our third year in the desert and I wish I had found this book earlier, but it's never to late to put into practice the things this book has to offer. It is a great resource and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a beautiful garden in the southwest. It's a great resource.

Short of grass
I have lived on high desert Tularosa Basin for almost six years with initial grass planted by builder / developer who also installed underground irrigation system. Overly hot, dry climate led to select grass seed planting during two or three subsequent years. But the amount of time, work and money has resulted in poor grass , unsightly, and with numerous bald spots. So it was with the reminder that trying to grow grass in a desert may not be productive that I would take a modest investment in trying a different approach. Will this be more satisfying?Ed Walsh

Desert Yards
I live in a high desert in Arizona and want to plant as natural as I can including some color. This book is so informative and knows the conditions so well for my area. I looked at many library books first but they assume you want a showstopping yard. I want natural. Also I will not be wasting water after plants are established. Very good buy.

Great reference book for anyone living in the desert.
Wonderful book, showing how to landscape in arid and semi-arid areas. We recently moved to the California desert and purchased a new house. We are very conscious of water conservation and decided to go with a desert scaped yard. This book was a great source of inspiration and an even better refernce book. Our sandy yard is starting to look like it's been professionally landscaped, and we'll be referring to this book many times in the future as the seasons change.

Get it for your high desert yard!
Great resource for those of us who feel so left out with most landscaping texts. I live in the high desert of Nevada that has Alpine woods 10 miles one way and arid, sagebrush prairies 5 miles the other. This book actually provides for some interesting options that shall enable me to combine some of each into a cohesive landscape plan for my yard. Some really neat ideas here!
