Mendota Pet Skid Plate - Dog Harness - Made in The USA - Large

I have three of these vests, simply for ease of rotating during bird season. I wanted something that would help protect my dog’s chest as he runs through the woods and also have some blaze orange for visibility. This vest is perfect for my needs. Lots of adjustment to get the right fit, extremely durable, and very bright. For reference, my GSP is 53 pounds and he’s been wearing size medium for the last two years. I just ordered a third vest in size large as he’s just starting to fill out a little more. The medium’s still fit him best though.

Like that it does not rub anywhere on my lab when hunting.

This thing is money in protecting the chest and underside of your dog.

I run a small hunting operation, I have a broad chested dog that was impossible to fit for a vest and gets tore up pretty bad. This one fits him well. The vest rubs in his pits, so I keep it loose. Otherwise for a 75# GSP, good product.

We bought this for our German Shepherd after she cut her belly jumping over a jagged tree stump. This is very well made. It protects her underside well. Quality material. Much better than I expected for the price. I really want to emphasize the quality of the material. We ordered a large.

This skip plate worked perfectly for taking our dog our hunting for the first time. At the end of the first day we noticed some sticks caught around her belly, so we made sure to check that on the second day. It held up great and protected her from many cuts and scrape. It didn't seem to chafe her much after wearing it for two full days.

I tried this for my German Wirehaired Pointer and if anything, it made things a lot worse. I hunt grouse in thick cover with lots of trees, branches, and potentially very muddy creek bottoms. I made sure this skid plate was well fitted, cinched correctly, and not loose anywhere. However, the canvas material it is made out of rubbed his chest raw and caused it to scab after one use. It also just collected a bunch of sticks and mud and held them against his stomach for the entirety of the hunting session, which I didn't notice until we were back at the truck. It might be good for someone with a different dog in a different environment, which is why I gave it two stars. I can't personally recommend it. If I need protection, I'll just use a neoprene vest for him, which is far less likely to chafe.

I was surprised by how tough this skid plate was compared to other flimsy ones I'd seen that wouldn't of lasted one hunt. Went hunting with my dog on opening day this week and this thing did the job right.
