Superficially identical to the Eheim pre-filter sponges. Same height, width, hole size. Fits fine in the pre-filter.They are noticeably softer though. I don't know if it's different material or just not as dense as the official stuff, but it squishes down real easy, whereas the Eheim branded ones are pretty firm. Time will tell how well they hold up. I have two official sponges and one of these "off-brand" ones in my prefilter to test them. Even if they don't last as long they're *significantly* cheaper, so it might still be the better buy in the long run.

These pre-filters have saved me a lot of time when being used with my Fluval Fx4. I use to clean out my filter monthly and a full break down quarterly but with these pre-filters i just don't see that much of a need for it. After opening up my FX4 it looked completely clean after a month of use with these in the intake. Clean them out once a week and your good to go.

I have been using for years for multiple fluval fx series filters with eheim prefilters. These filters have never been as good as the original, but used to be a good compromise and value. However, now the company vacuum seals the sponge filters for shipping which compress the foam and makes it less efficient. The pore and structure of the foam is greatly affected. To the company's defense, they did offer a small percentage off when I reached out to inform them of the issue. It's simply not the same so order at your risk.
