Fireworks - Standard DVD

I'd seen the trailer for this and thought I would give it a go as I am a fan of anime films --having seen all of the Studio Ghibli films as well as some such as Wolf Children, Your Name and The Boy and The Beast-- and I was not disappointed!It is a truly beautiful love story but with a twist. As it's been the same person that directed Your Name, there is a slight sci fi element to it as the main character, Norimichi, is able to manipulate time by wishing for something and then throwing a glowing ball a girl he likes has found, thus altering time to fit whatever he has wished for. The film is beautifully made with characters that you can easily root for, with laughter, tears and suspense -- especially near the end, you definitely need tissues when watching this!That doesn't mean it's sad though, it is an uplifting film with lovely animation, great English dub and well worth watching in my opinion. If you're looking to try something that isn't Studio Ghibli, then this is definitely the one for you! :)

This arrived very fast and was very well packaged.This movie was amazing, a true emotional rollercoaster and great animation.Well worth any penny or any anime lover or collector.

This film was shockingly poor. The 'plot', such as it was, had random events just to make the story seem to move forward.I adore all sorts of Anime, from Perfect Blue to Akira, Ghibli to Excel Saga. Unfortunately modern anime doesn't really do it for me. I've tried various shows and films, all being a bit 'meh'.The last 'modern' anime I enjoyed was 'Hana and Alice' which was wonderful. So I gave fireworks ago because it was by the same writer as H&A. Unfortunately tho, it was pretty bad, barely coherent. I don't mind open ended films but I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. In fact the female protagonist was a brat.Also the film is in horrendous CGI. It makes everything look cheap and dates incredibly badly, where as hand drawn lasts forever. CGI is a tool to be used on occasion, not to be used as the throughout.

This is a great anime, well drawn and very colorful. The story line is quite unique, well worth getting.

Disappointing, struggled to watch through to the end

Hello to all , I was interested in this Fireworks titled anime film, which is about a boy who has the ability to control time with a flashy looking ball device that a girl finds in the local river .. he then gets trapped into using the device which the girl is carrying mainly to prevent her being taken away by her folks .. the storyline is sub par and weak in my preferance as it does get into a groundhog routine without seeing everything repeated, he just ends up saying things and things happen ..I do think the story writers could have written a better storyline into the film and for the finishing / ending which was very plain again my thoughts only ..again watch before purchase you can find this film on youtube people .. go for it !p.s the reason fireworks in the film some people go to watch a fireworks show to determine weather they are round or flat apon explotion..
