The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat

I like this book but
I like some of the advice of this book but agree that many.of it is very against the mainstream advi e currently in. Example, the author says we should give grapes and raisins to the dogs, but the advice is that they are very poisonous to them. Other examples are onions, apples and avocados. It creates a big conflict when deciding what to feed the dog.I think the book is good but the author is also a breeder which main job is to care for the dogs so any amount of food preparation is part of the job and I can't see myself washing pieces of meat with vinegar to check for worms eggs in the middle of my busy schedule however I think the advice is good and should be checked and as a preventative medicine it is one to consider. As my pup had worms infestation coming from a shelter I got afraid of feeding completely raw so I adopted some of the diet suggestions - such as herbs to use, soak grain flakes in nettle etc - and I can say 100% my labrador not just likes it but also feel much more satisfied with this added to his diet than with daily food only.At present his food is 80-20 (home made food- dry food) and this was the best way to get him satisfied and his poop in a good consistency as the herbs are probiotics.

Helpful for natural feeding
This greatly helped me being confident to feed my dog and cats a whole food diet instead of kibble. They get fruit, vegetables and raw meat now and are healthy and happy. I don't believe in feeding dairy though, I believe it's denatured and made for calves, but other than that it's a great book.

An Essential Dog Owner's Guide
A book every dog owner should study. Some of the information could have been presented in a more practical way so that the layperson might find it easier to absorb and apply to their particular pet. However, an essential companion to refer to if one wishes to give one's pet the best chance to enjoy good health.

Probably the most important book you'll need to take care of your pets
Juliette was an incredibly gifted and wise person.I had the luck to meet her and to be able to learn a lot from her understanding of the animal world. If you're into taking care of your pets without the help of big pharma and the usual major food multinationals, this treasure is a must.

The missing link
Growing up , my Mum looked after our pet dogs on a daily basis, with occasional help from the vets at a local farm. I feel this book covers a lot of the common-sense approach to rearing Dogs. They are specialised with a specific digestive system and have evolved over 40 million years after all! Mummy would have appreciated the advice.

A great source of information on doing things, the natural way with dogs and cats
The only thing I would fall the author for is recommending fasting. I wouldn’t make myself fast. So why would I make my pet fast and she believes in doing things the natural way in this way she is ahead of her time and up-to-date despite the information being old. Also, she has traveled the world and knows about how animals are treated in other cultures like. This book is a great source of information if you have a dog or if you are raising dogs it’s not so thorough on information about cats. she says that most of the information about dog supplies equally to cats but I disagree because dogs will eat things that cats will not and a lot of the things she suggest you feed your cat eye things they wouldn’t want to eat unless they were mixed in with other food. Her philosophy of staying close to nature and doing things the natural way leads her to make many common sense assumptions that are correct and helpful for dogs and cats. I wish I could find her book on cat care, but it’s out of print and I plan on buying her book on raising children.

Highly recommended. This book is a must for all dog owners.
I cannot say enough great things about this book. I had dogs for the last 40 years. This book condense everything I learned during all my research. I wish I had this book 40 years ago, this would have help tremendously and I wouldn't have made so many mistakes. This is not a new book. It was first written in the 50's and re-edited many times since. It talks mostly about the benefits of raw food and how to keep your dog healthy with herbs. I am a dog breeder. I raise dobermans. For now on each person who get one of my dogs, would also get a copy of this book.
