They work better than you'd ever expect
When you look at these, you think "there's no way that can work." But they do! My driveway is 2000 feet long, and though our neighbor usually plows us out, we can't always count on that. Even after plowing, snowmelt can re-freeze and make it dangerously slick. Part of the driveway is both curved and hilly, so even snow tires need help. I used to have tire chains for my old RWD Volvo, and they worked great, but since the roads were usually plowed, it was a huge pain to put the chains on, drive to the end of the driveway, and take them off again. Cold, wet, and miserable. Now I have a FWD Honda, and chains are a bit tricker for FWD - and since they require tighter tolerances, more expensive. So I bought these snow socks, hoping they'd work as advertised.Incredible! They're super-easy to put on. Your hands hardly touch the snow. Just pull them around the top of the tire, tuck in at the bottom, then drive the car forward a few feet and pull the rest over the tire. Now, just put it in gear and go. It pulls through wet snow, deep snow, and even ice. One day we had 8 inches of snow on the driveway, which hadn't been plowed yet, and I had to get to work. I thought, well, I'll give it a try. No hesitation, the car just went. I could see snow getting "plowed" by the front bumper, yet the car just kept going. I made it all the way out with zero difficulty.I used them another time when I got caught at work after a sudden snow squall which dumped 5 inches of wet snow in 90 minutes. The roads around the office were unplowed and had packed down to slick lumpy ice. Cars were sliding all over, into each other and off the road. But with the snow socks on, and leaving plenty of distance to the car in front of me, I had no problems at all. When I got to the highway, I found it had been plowed, so I pulled over and took the socks off. Had to - driving any distance on clear roads will shred the material. It's about the only drawback, I'd say. But it's even quicker to take them off than put them on - just tug off the top of the tire, roll the car forward, pick them up. They will be sloppy wet and dirty, so I'd suggest keeping a plastic trash bag or bin in your trunk to put them in.

Pleasantly surprised
I was back and forth about these, but living in the country and just getting a front wheel drive car again, I had to do something. Got them on time and tried them in 3" if snow. It was a really nice surprise compared to without them. No problems. Keep you speed down like the directions say because they start to make sounds underneath when you get above 25 mph. Getting then on took a little effort but not much to it. Wrap one half on each side of the tire, move ahead, and wrap the other half on the tire. I will have to update in deeper snow, but if it's too deep, the underside of the car will get hung up so it won't matter what you drive. Use sizing chart of manufacturer to size for your vehicle. Would recommend.

These fit 21 255 40 Volvo
I needed “chains” for my new Volvo XC60. Actual chains are not recommended. The tire is big with a weird aspect ratio 21 255 40. Couldn’t even find it listed in the sizing chart, but Washington state will fine you if you aren’t carrying approved traction devices, so I bought a pair to be legal crossing the pass. I didn’t think I’d ever need to actually use them in this AWD car , but I stupidly got myself stuck in a drift. The socks were a snap to apply and they pulled me right out. Not sure how long they will hold up, but probably long enough for my purposes.

Amazing
I bought these for my brother who lives in the woods. He needed them only to get up an unpaved, rugged/harsh hill to the main road. They are extremely easy and quick to put on and remove. Be sure to only use them as directed. They are not meant to go very far.

Disappointment
We've had record-breaking amounts of snow in our area this season. The Shark socks were purchased so that chains did not have to be used. The first set worked very well, initially. Then they shredded. We returned them for a second set. We were told by family members in England to keep our speed low, which we have done. The second set developed a tear tonight in one of the socks. Nothing came with the socks to inform the buyer when, how, and where to use them, or not use them. The person using the socks cannot afford snow tires, and they seemed the better option for chains. I don't know if we should try again, or simply go back to chains.

Great for winter driving
These worked amazing! My front wheel drive vehicle couldn’t make it up our steep driveway this winter without these! Easy to put on and off too. Definitely recommend!

Snow Socks saved us!
I had an opportunity to use the snow socks today on my Mitsubishi Eclipse. Road conditions included 2-3 inches of snow with some ice and most of the driving was a combination of cobblestone and asphalt road in moderate hilly terrain. The snow socks were very easy to put on…it took approximately 5 minutes for both front wheels. The socks performed superbly driving approximately 20 -25 MPH. I like them and they saved me from potentially getting stuck in the snow.
