Excellent so far.
Received these one day sooner than promised. After reading many of the reviews posted I decided to run preliminary tests on each unit. All tests were run with 5 volt input. First turn the pot CCW 20 turns, this is important to set the output to it's lowest level. I applied 5 volts to the input with a voltmeter attached to the output. Each unit came on with an output of 1.2 volts. (Notice that the blue led is not lot at this time.) As the output is turned up the led will come on at about 2 to 2.5 volts and the max voltage was 4.75 on all 6 units, not bad for a 5 volt input. I have only rated these at four stars until I run more tests at higher input and output levels. Test these properly and I'm sure you will have better results than those who wrote bad reviews.

These work great, but...
This product arrived in a timely manner, but I was initially disappointed when a quick test revealed that 5 of the 6 appeared defective. After a few turns in either direction, the output voltage did not change (remained high). However, after a bit of research I learned that the regulator is a "multi-turn" potentiometer and 5 of my converters were set very high from the factory. It took between 5 and 20 full revolutions counterclockwise before the voltage began to drop. I would order again from this vendor.

Failed
Working with electronics for years, This set of 6 came in ESD sealed bags but beyond that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong . As a Electronic Tech all Techs know the magic smoke phrase. Unfortunately 5 out of 6 FAILED, only one worked as intended. Using the device as intended with voltages that were in tolerance. The out put was good until adjusting the pot for out put voltage. DID NOT hold nor read accurate and 5 went to smoke before even getting to the normal use level or with in tolerance. Amps ! that's another issue. Amps varied tolerances were at 30% to even 70%. Be aware of what price may sound priced right. Always remember the old remark. You get what you pay for.

All Worked as Expected, No Surprises
After receiving, a checkout of all six converters was performed:- Before power-up, turned each potentiometer 20 turns counter-clockwise (as recommended by the manufacturer and other reviewers).- Connected the converter output to a 2.2Kohm load.- Connected a voltmeter to the output.- Set a bench supply to 9V-12V (current-limited to 500mA).- Connected the bench supply to the converter input. Each converter came up with an output around 1.2V, and each was able to be adjusted to a 5V output with no capacitors popping. Bench supply did not rise above 100mA (the limit of its resolution; it read 0.0A for each test). Did not try other input or output voltages.Would buy again. (I'll update this review if an issue comes up later.)

Do not connect unloaded!
The pot must first be turned CCW 20 turns. This is the only way to set the output to it's lowest level. I applied 12 volts to the input with a voltmeter attached to the output. Most of the converters came on with an output of 1.3 volts. I was able to tune the output to 11.65 volts - not bad at all. All 6 devices worked. The output at 5VDC and 12VDC input is stable up to about 2700ma. At 3000ma the device got very warm.

Great utility device! Outstanding value too!
Wow! This little module is great! Thinking back over the years of all the times that I have had to get creative, or build or buy, a power supply for a project or a consumer electronics repair, this little guy would have covered the majority of them! My inventory requirements for dial lamps, panel lamps and AC to DC adapter / wall-wart adapters for vintage equipment just went down dramatically! When I tested my first one of these on the bench, I thought that I either was doing something silly or that I had a bad one. A quick youtube search showed that I was turning the adjustment screw in the wrong direction and not nearly enough! There must be some mighty fine threads inside that multi-turn adjustment pot. You can dial in the desired voltage down to a very small fraction of a volt -- and it holds rock steady as the supply voltage and load varies! The applications for this thing are endless. I already have several in mind and I am sure that more will present themselves as time goes on. At about a buck a piece, how can you go wrong?

runs hot - needs heat management
I used this component to build a power supply for a vintage Commodore computer. The computer requires a maximum of 2A at 5vdc (in addition to 1A at 9vac, which was isolated from the 5vdc and is out of scope of this review). This unit is rated for 3A. I used this component to step down 12vdc to 5.0vdc, It worked fine at first, but after a couple hours of use I noticed a hot electrical smell. I discovered that this component was extremely hot. It probably needs a heatsink and fan for pulling anything more than 1A for stepping down 12vdc to 5vdc. Your results may vary depending on your use case. I'm upgrading to a 5A rated component with ample heatsinks for my use case.

Wonderful little voltage regulators
They worked perfectly for my purposes. I needed a 5 volt regulator that takes in a large possible voltage range from 6 to 30v. This did the job and produced a solid stable and clean 5 volt output even when the input voltage changed. I used these for several applications. They are effective and great for the price.
