I wanted the cake to simplify a recipe for baked Alaska. The cake was very good, but the shipping was slow.

Ok, but Not what I expected
Haven’t had true sponge cake in years and hoped this would be it. It’s tasty but not what I remember sponge cake to be. This product is made with oil, which is possibly the difference.

Not a very good example of sponge cake
I thought this was like British sponge cake. Nowhere close. Too moist, doughy, too much lemon flavor.

I have found it difficult to find sponge cake made to order. Really happy to have found this bakery. They ship very quickly and the cake is very fresh! I order a few at a time and freeze for future use.
