Awkward at first but worth getting used to...
My main purpose for buying this was to remove swirl marks from my cars. At first I used it on an old Renault Megane (because I wasn't too concerned if I damaged the paintwork)... And my before/after pics should show how rewarding it can be if used correctlyFirstly, preparing the bodywork is essential as any grit on the paint when you put a rotary device on it will create a bigger issues that what you're trying to solve!1. Wash and dry the car thoroughly2. Use a clay bar to remove any surface containments - I used a Meguiars clay bar kit which is actually very reasonably priced for what you get - I'd never claybared a car before and it's actually much easier than I expected, a couple of minutes per panel and you do instantly feel the results, particularly in a car which clearly hasn't been looked after, like my old Megane (which I bought for £400 in an emergency and its still going after 6 months!).3. Once the claybaring is done, you're ready to use the machine...4. Prime the pad (the most abrasive one which was green in my kit) by putting a generous amount of rubbing compound on the pad - again, I used a Meguiars product, Ultimate Rubbing Compound, but that's personal preference. I spread the compound across the pad and 'pushed' it in to reduce the risks of the pad drying out during the process.5. Prime the panel - for larger panels (roof, bonnet) divide them into 2 or even 4 sections - by putting 4/5 dots of product on the pad and pressing them into the paintwork then, with the machine on the slowest speed (which it always is by default) swiftly spread the product over the work area.6. Put a little more product on the pad if you feel the need and, starting in a corner of your area, move the machine in straight lines at a rate of around 1 inch per second. When you've covered the area in an up/down direction, go over the area again in a left/right direction - complete all of this in one use without lifting the machine off the paintwork.7. Repeat over the vehicle and enjoy the results. Depending on your paint finish, you'll need to polish and/or wax the car afterwards to protect your clearcoat.2 things to remember - ALWAYS start and stop the machine on the bodywork, to avoid spraying product everywhere! And if you see the product drying or flaking, it's drying out so add more!Sorry for the long review but it's good to know how to get the best out of this product!

Saved a trip to the spray shop
I purchased this after looking at many others here on Amazon. I'm very happy with the quality of it. I'd imagine the variable speed would cater for most of your needs. My car had a number of clear coat scratches, you could slightly feel the ridge under your finger. I used some 1000 grit paper with a spray of water to reduce the damage. This left a (scary looking) misted patch of clear coat. I added some Meguiars Ultimate Compound to the area, then started on the second speed setting. A few more applications of the compound and working up to the next speed setting - half way, and after around 15 minutes the misted area had cleared. I then added polish, another buff with the next foam velcro pad and all is looking perfect. No scratches and just nice shiny clear coat. So, this has saved me an expensive trip to the spray shop.

Fantastic polisher/sander compatable with grinder attachments.
Fantastic sander/polisher.I'm a specialist tiler and after my last sander/polisher died a dusty death I decided to try a cheaper option.I was incredibly surprised at the quality of this one when it came and the first time I used it.The digital and led indicator of speed is really easy to use and makes you feel like you're using a high end quality product. I always hated the spin wheel switches on variable speed sanders because they clog up with dust and become hard to use. Not this one though!I've used it to sand and polish marble worktops in a well knows restaurant and it worked like a dream.Normal grinder attachments will fit onto this which was an added bonus.

Good for a DA novice/learner
I treated myself to a set of these after my car went in for some paint, the newly painted parts showing up the tired and worn paintwork on the rest of the car specifically the bonnet, which suffered a bad respray before my ownership. We have a DA polisher, which has an uncommon 180mm (7") pad backing, which isn't the easiest to buy replacement pads for, and the one which came bundled with the machine had no specification, nor seemed to provide much cutting action, nor was particularly pleasant to use.I bought these which came next day, have a range from firm (blue), medium (green) and black (finishing), although I've since found, and seen that a 150mm set of pads exist for less money, and come with a backing pad to step down from the 180mm, which is infinitely more usable.I used the green one to start, along with liberal application of Megs Ultimate compound, and after a couple of passes, the difference was night and day - from dull, faded, swirly god-awful paintwork, to shiny, smooth and lustreful paintwork, the difference was astonishing - far removed from the earlier efforts - now by no means perfect, but for a quick pass over, it was great - Just got the rest of the car to do now!The pad I used also cleaned up nicely and no signs of tearing or falling apart so far.

Powerful machine
This is a really powerful machine with a 1500w motor. It is ideal as a machine polisher with its different speed settings done by the press of a button and a digital reading. On full speed, the machine has so much oomph and would sand through very quick.Comes with a backing plate, sanding pad and mopping cloth.A great powerful machine.

Good polisher , quick result , saved a body shop trip
Never used one of these before . Bought this one based on the reviews and the pricing looked about right . Got it to polish some scuff marks out of my daughters car . She has had a couple of scrapes which looked like they would polish out but would have taken ages . Using the medium polishing sponge and T-Cut I'd removed the lot in about fifteen minutes . I mistakenly wet the sponge to start and end up spattering the stuff all over the place . Lesson there was use a slower speed with thicker polish . Buffing was a breeze - big buffing pad , second speed had it sorted in no time . Really pleased with the result , great piece of kit
