MF90W Outboard Hydraulic Steering Kit for Boats up to 90 HP with Hydraulic helmp Pump, Hydraulic Cylinder, Tubing and Oil with BR72 Engine arm

I honestly knew nothing about Hydrodrive and was looking into Seastar (good reviews) and Baystar (not-so good reviews) when I found it. I was skeptical due to the lower price but the reviews were good so I took what I feel was a chance. The installation was easy and straight forward. I installed it on a 17' Sailfish with a Yamaha B90TLRV with no issues using the tiller arm bracket that I already had with the cable system. I took a little time to get the system bled properly but once I got it bled it is.. in a word... amazing. One finger steering even under load or at speed. I've had it out twice since installation and I am in love with my boat again. The only thing I can't fully comment on in this review is the durability (wear and corrosion resistance) because it is so new to me. Looking at the materials used (coated aluminum, stainless steel, nylon, and brass) I expect it will stand up to Florida and salt water usage just fine. It also should be fully "overhaul-able" with new seals and gaskets down the road many years.Another great surprise was even with the quoted 3-6 weeks delivery estimate, I got it in 5 business days from Hungary with the standard shipping (obviously this can't be counted on, but others have commented on quick shipping also).If I think about it down the road (5+ years) I'll write a new review about the long term performance.4+ year update - System is still working flawlessly (11/5/2023)

The quality of this steering system is crazy. It was easy to install despite not coming with any instruction. The only problem I had with the installation was with the full tube and funnel for filling the system with fluid. The funnel that can with it was too narrow to allow fluid down and air up at the same time so when filling the system it pulled air in. Not a big deal, I was able to cut the funnel and it worked no problem. Would buy this product again in a heart beat!

Everything for the install went very well but the lack of instructions for bleeding the lines was a bit of a hurdle. luckily I found another video from different place that shared a better way to bleed the lines with a much better end result.

The system arrived several weeks early and in excellent condition. Installation was fairly simple but there were no instructions included, however I found a pretty good video on Youtube that helped. The materials used and the build quality of this system are very good, not to mention the price was by far the best on Amazon for a new system. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would buy it again!

The product arrived in 3 days from Hungary to Florida. Super fast for overseas shipment.Everything came in the box that was needed for the installation. Instructions were included on usb drive.Hand written instructions were hard to understand but the video helped put things together.I had one issue however, The ram shaft on this unit where the steering rod attaches is too thick to use the factory steering arm. Had to the modify the eyelet so the factory Mercury steering arm would bolt properly, Used an angle grinder with sanding disc to thin the eyelet. (attached photos). Other than that, the installation was a breeze.note: they do make a universal steering arm for this unit. Which I did not buy and would have eliminated the above.Looks like a really high quality product. Hopefully, the product will last at least 3+ years.Note to manufacture: would like to see some caps included for the bleed fittings and also recommendations for equivalent hydraulic fluid replacement other than ATF3Follow up: after over year of use. Had my first major issue. The hose connections to the pump and cylinder are only slip fit. There is no flare in the connection to keep the hose attached. With enough pressure the hose can pop out. Happened to me and the nuts were tight, the hose came off leaked fluid everywhere, not to mention safety issue. Lucky i was close to the ramp and had help to get the boat back on the trailer. Lost all steering control had to steer by manually turning the motor by hand. Big safety issue..

Easy install, works great on my Yamaha 90 hp jet drive. Way smoother and easier steering than cable system.

i have a 2093 Boston Whaler Montauk. The unit arrived in one week, very good quality. I have 3 issues to addressed1. The hydraulic unit that installs on the console is about 1/2 inch smaller in Diameter . So it does not cover the old holes. I have to make a trim ring.2. The mercury steering rod has a machined flat area on the Port side that the steering arm connects to. Flat to flat it measures just over 9 MM. (.380 +) the new steering rod has a machined area that measures 14 MM . The mercury steering arm protrudes through the hole just enough to catch the threads on the locking nut. But the threads do not extend past the lock nut! Should extend through at least one thread!Not sure what I'm going to do!Machine shop?3. The hydraulic rod that the steering arm connects to travels port to starboard 10 -12 inches. I have an interference issue on the Starboard side of the whaler.I may have to put some kind of stop collar on the port side to limit the travel by 2 inches!!The description should provide more detailed technical specification indicating total travel.
