Tesla Model 3 / Model Y Center Console Wrap - Brushed Black Metallic (Gen 1.0)

The result is absolutely amazing. This wrap totally transformed my Model 3. Before this, my piano black was a fingerprint magnet. I left a few ugly scratches from tossing my house keys on it. Not only did the wrap covers all the defects, the brushed black metallic wrap matches well with the black interior of my Model 3.The whole process took me about 30 minutes to finish after watching the installation video guide. The middle and the top pieces are very easy and intuitive to install. I did have to refer back to the video for the cup holder piece for the second time. This was my first time installing anything vinyl (aside from putting on decals on my MacBook Pro) but their free replacement policy on the first piece gave me some reassurance. I didn’t end up needing to use it. This wrap is so different from others. The precut backing papers are a lifesaver. It reduces the stress and complexity by splitting down each piece into 4. I can tell they pay a lot of attention to detail in making installation easier for us.I am attaching some photos of my finished install to share. I am still amazed by how beautiful it turns out. This brushed metal look is what Tesla should have done instead of the good looking but impractical piano black console. I can't say that the installation was easy, but the video helped, and with patience I was able to apply everything perfectly. I also got the matching wraps for the steering wheel and door switches. Is it worth it? You bet.My only caution is that it scratches fairly easily. Minor scratches should fade with sun and warmth, but deeper ones are permanent, as demonstrated by our enthusiastic miniature goldendoodle (despite his well-groomed nails). He loves riding in the car and moves from the back to the front and back again often. I emailed EV to see if there was a way to buff out the scratches, but they agreed that the piece needed replacing. I didn't expect them to send me a new one, but they generously offered to replace it at no cost. Now that's great customer service. Looks like I'll have to figure out a way to banish my co-pilot to the back seat :-(.

The product itself felt premium. The installation part was the part I had been dreading. I didn't want to screw it up. After watching a few YouTube videos, I felt confident enough to attempt the wrapping. I made sure I was in a cool shady spot and started to work. After 20 minutes, the sun started shifting and shining through the glass roof and I started getting sweaty. I installed the middle piece, then the top piece and then the cup holder piece last. I would recommend doing the cup holder piece 2nd. The middle one first to get a feel of the material then the cup holder piece while you still have some patience. The top one and the middle one were pretty easy. Although my work has little imperfections, my wife couldn't tell at all. As you can see in my pictures, the cup holder piece could have been a touch cleaner. I also wished this company included a razor blade. I still would recommend this product.

So I purchased this twice because I messed up the first go around on the cup hold portion...don't attempt to stretch this product you will end up ripping it out because you created wrinkles you can't get out. Once I did it the second time I didn't quite get a perfect alignment on the cupholders but no-one has noticed and I sometimes can't even notice. I ordered the brushed metal and that hides the imperfections in my work. When I went back and watched the install video though I was way more confident going into this with the little tips he was showing. Take your time and watch the install video.

My 10 yr old son and I put it on as a daddy-son project. We got the brushed steel finish. Looks great, as if it an option from the factory. Search you tube for the install video and watch through it once. It does require some patience and carefulness to get it on right, but totally doable. We decided to put on the center piece first, as it was the easiest and a confidence builder. Then put on the cup holder area part, that is the hardest and still had some patience and attention span left. Then put on the top most piece last. That was based on advice from another review here and worked well.

I almost never leave reviews on Amazon but... this thing is VERY hard to install, and the material is NOT very strong at all and rips easily. I was able to install the topmost section pretty flawlessly, but the middle section ended up with some impossible to remove bubbles, and the cup holder portion was a nightmare and I ended up ripping it in multiple sections. It’s a shame because once applied properly it looks great. But the strength of the material and difficulty of the install makes that end result in the above picture just unrealistic. I kind of want to just return the whole thing in pieces, very disappointed. Might as well light your money on fire unless you are an expert at this stuff.EDIT:EV Wraps sent me replacements for BOTH the cup holder and the center wrap, which was nice. I was much more successful the second time around with a bit more experience and patience. I still did end up with 2 bubble in the cup holder that I was unable to remove. I haven't tried heating it up yet to smooth it away and will post another update if I'm successful. Overall I'm happy with the product and I'm glad they added a hassle free replacement wrap in case you mess up.

The cupholder was impossible to put on the first time. The learning curve was tough. I ultimately had to throw it away. It over stretched way to easily and almost snapped and then stuck together. Once that happens game over. I have a skilled hand and was careful. The cupholder area was the area I wanted to protect my Tesla Model 3 the most. I felt there should have been 2 sets provided because there is over a 75% most people would mess up. The top portion was easier and the mid section had some over stretch issues. I wish you could send me another set from the cupholder as I know if I did it the second time I would have better luck.
