Super Fun Game
My son really loved this game, always has lots of fun everytime he plays it, the only thing he gets a little frustrated with is not being able to figure out how to cure diseases and why certain animals get sick so fast-- but overall its well worth buying, great time!

That's it...?
I loved Zoo Tycoon (and all the expansions) - so when Zoo Tycoon 2 came out, I bought it right away. There are three ways you can play ZT2 - one is in campaign mode, where the player is given certain objectives to meet and once met, that game is won. The second is in challenge mode, where the player chooses a map and how much money he/she wants and then just builds a zoo; along the way players are given challenges and if successful, they get incentives (mostly cash). In challenge mode, there is no "winning" - you can play on and on indefinitely. Finally, there is free-form mode where the player picks a map & how much cash to start with and then just builds a zoo; there are no challenges or objectives.I like playing in campaign mode the best. I like completing objectives and I like to complete one game and move to the next...The first expansion to ZT2, "Endangered Species", added a lot of new content to the game, including nine new scenarios (campaigns), zoo "tours" (including Jeeps & a sky tram), new objects and new animals. Many of the new campaigns were challenging and I had start over a couple times before beating them. They were a lot of fun. This expansion... well... it added only three new scenarios and they were very, very easy. In fact, I completed all three in only a few hours of gameplay. "African Adventure" basically only adds new animals and new desert-themed objects, and even those aren't really "new" - they're just existing objects (like a drink stand) that now have the desert-"look" to them. All in all, the game is still fun, but this expansion is a let-down. Only three new campaigns that will only take you a few hours to beat, a handful of new animals, and the desert-themed buildings & objects. If you enjoy playing in challenge mode or free-form mode, you should get some enjoyment out of the new aniamls. Personally, I was really hoping for more...

Detailed review of African Adventures
I've enjoyed the original game for years, and finally decided to get all of the expansion packs. Having heard that African Adventure was the least-liked in the series, I decided to play it first so that I'd get the most enjoyment out of it before moving on to the supposedly better games. Overall I found it a fun addition to my favorite childhood game, however there were a few key points in the game that I found frustrating or disappointing. I anticipate playing it from time to time and think an avid lover of Zoo Tycoon 2 should give it a try (not a bad price, honestly), but the few issues I had with the game were major enough to cause a lot of disappointment.Pros:I love the Jeep tours, and they seem to be a great moneymaker as well with donations.Gate crossing was a good idea for jeeps.New animals, items, and campaigns are fun.LOVE the live food: lizard 'toy.'I like being able to see family trees now. There is more variety in guests' appearances. You now get notified when animals are about to give birth, instead of after it's already happened.Cons:Hate the meerkats which seem to escape under every fence in 30 seconds.Animals seem to love to fall asleep on the jeep track and there's no way to get the tour to continue.Animals will take only one mate now, and not breed with anyone in their family tree. While some animals do follow these rules, as a whole I find it unrealistic. Additionally, it makes the game more difficult. The zookeepers seem increasingly more stupid than in the original game. I get spammed by messages saying zookeepers can't reach anything and I find them wandering around in an exhibit with the animals starving to death or surrounded by filth. There are only three new campaigns.I could only pass the first campaign, the second one seemed bugged for me. Maybe I just had bad luck. The part I got stuck at was taking a picture of a specific bird playing with a specific toy... I sat there for three months watching the bird not even go near it. I must've placed ten of those things in its cage. Ended up buying three more birds of its same type, thinking that might increase my chances of one playing with the toy. Waited two more months. Finally one bird started playing with the toy, I excitedly switched to camera mode and took a picture... didn't register for the challenge. A second bird decided play with the same toy, taking a picture also didn't register for the challenge. Got frustrated and quit the game.Neutral:The guests apparently talk and complain to each other now... I'm unsure of what effect this has so far.Guests on the jeep tour seem to notice everything now. This is an exact conversation that a guest had: "I've never seen anything quite like the low tundra fence before! This is a nice view of the june grass. I like the view of a medium grassland rock. I think the sedge grass is amazing! I've never seen anything quite like the small grassland rock before! I like the elephant grass. I think that small savannah rock is interesting. This is a nice view of the blackthorn bush. I've never seen anything quite like Common Zebra 2 before! I've never seen anything quite like Common Zebra 1 before!" So on the positive side at least they notice all the effort I put in the habitats... but it's also just got me rolling my eyes whenever I click on a guest's thoughts.More detailed animal interaction. I've seen animals follow their mates around, call to mates when giving birth, babies learn skills from their parents, and one animal attack another animal when its mate was killed.
