I bought this Xotics 5000 BC Tuxedo beard oil for my son who has a moderate length beard with extremely course and somewhat curly hair. I had difficulty deciding how many stars to assign because my son loves this beard oil. He suggested a 5 star rating but I could not do that in good conscience because the product is advertised as all natural which is not completely true. While most of the ingredients are wonderful, the fourth ingredient is dimethicone. Dimethicone (also known as polydimethylsiloxane or PDMS) is technically called a silicone-based polymer. Silicones are man-made rubberlike compounds that are added to make products smooth and glide on easily. It is chemically synthesized and not water soluble. While considered generally safe and very widely used in personal care products, I would prefer my son use all-natural beard oil. The final ingredient listed is fragrance which is most likely not natural either. Xotics also contains expensive essential oils so I’m dumbfounded as to why they added fragrance. I think there is a reason the ingredients are suspiciously not posted on Amazon or Xotics website.On the other side of things, if you aren’t a fanatic about all-natural ingredients, this beard oil is awesome. My son said it is an excellent choice of beard oil mostly for its itch-relieving qualities but he also likes the fragrance and said it is moisturizing and makes his beard more soft (his girlfriend agrees with this point). Until he discovered beard oil, my son was not able to keep a beard for long because it would become unbearably itchy and he would need to shave it off to relieve the itch. He discovered beard oil about 1.5 years ago and hasn’t shaved since. He has tried 3 different brands and he says this one relieves the itch better than the other 2. If he were the one paying, he would continue to purchase this Xotics 5000 BC Tuxedo beard oil. We were able to purchase this oil at a small discount in exchange for our honest opinion.

I bought this oil for my husband, and I used it a bit for myself too for my hair and skin. We both like it a lot. My husband says it smells like gingersnaps. I blend a lot of oils myself, and I would say as far as scent goes, there is clove, patchouli, and sandalwood in this. The clove comes on strong at first but then settles down into a nice warm woodsy scent that I really like. The blend of this beard oil has a lot of nice oils in it that would be expensive to make yourself, including hemp seed oil, Shea, olive oil, avocado oil, argon oil, coconut oil, and more! The consistency is not too thin or thick, perfect for a beard or ends of your hair. It does provide a little sheen to your hair or skin. My husband loves to use beard oils, and this is one of the better ones he uses. This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

I purchased this product for my husband to use on his beard. When he used it along with a beard brush, it worked well to tame his beard hair and make it softer. The fact that it is all natural is great because it didn't irritate his sensitive skin. The only downfall is that it had a slight vegetable smell to it. He has used it daily for a week.
