Great “kitchen table book” for families
I am a mom of 3 with a bit of an age gap between my oldest 2 and youngest. My older two had their share of likes & dislikes in their younger years but my 5 year old has me stumped and is challenging me in the food department the last few years. He started out as my best eater (ate everything the family was eating as a baby & toddler), so it’s been surprising and quite the challenge to figure out ways to get him to try new foods. I bought this book as a “kitchen table book” to have out for all of us to look through leisurely when we are hanging around the kitchen. My 5 year old calls this book “his” and loves looking at the pictures and naming the foods while my 12 year old reads through it with him. It’s such a great resource with loads of information, beautiful photography - it’s really well written and put together.I highly recommend to anyone looking to expose their kids to learning more about their food in a positive way.

Great Book for Helping Us Get Healthy Foods into Our Kids!
Helping our kids get the vitamins, minerals, fiber, and micro nutrients their brains and bodies need is crucial to set them up for a healthy, successful life, so I was so excited to run across Kuzemchak's book! The author, a professional nutritionist and mom, presents a wealth of information about WHY certain foods are good for us, and she offers suggestions for HOW to get kids to eat items that may not be their favorites—like including squash puree in your quick bread recipe. And I've learned so many interesting things! I had no idea the pigments in the skin of an eggplant act like "free-radical scavengers" in our bodies, for example, or that you can bake jicama, a Mexican vegetable that's a cross between a potato and an apple. My kids will eat slices of jicama raw, dipped in dressing, but I can't wait to put one in the oven and see what happens. I've been so impressed with this book that I'm featuring it in a post on how to get kids the nutrition they need for healthy brain development on thebrainstages.com blog at the end of February. The 101 Healthiest Foods for Kids is a must for any parent interested in making sure their kids get what their bodies and brains need for optimal health and development!

10 STARS!!!
I’ve been on a recent kick of trying to find the best and healthiest foods to feed my 1 1/2 year old and this book is literally an answer to my prayers. I don’t know how many times I have referred back to this book or fix my little one supper and sit down beside him and flip through this book and find the foods that are exactly on his plate and look up all the nutritional value. It’s a AWESOME book every parents needs. A few easy recipes are included to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your child’s diet without them realizing it if you have a picky eater (like mine). Just a great book! If you’re on the fence, I’m telling you to buy it! You won’t be sorry.

Where are the recipes?
I bought this book hoping it would be full of helpful recipes to help me convince my toddlers to eat more veggies and other healthy foods. Unfortunately, it's more like an encyclopedia of healthy foods with a small number of random recipes sprinkled throughout. If you already know that fruits, veggies and grains are healthy for your kids, I wouldn't recommend this book. Otherwise, if you have absolutely no idea what is healthy when you walk into a grocery store, then definitely purchase this guide.

I love this book!
I've long been a fan of Sally Kuzemchak, who always brings warmth and humor to helping parents feed their children more healthfully, without judgment or hype. This book perfectly reflects those qualities, taking parents on a guided tour of 101 healthy foods, some of which they may never have considered offering their kids, or maybe even tried themselves. With gorgeous photography and an easy-to-read two-pager on each food, Sally offers fresh new information on familiar foods, while demystifying the less familiar ones, like kefir and hemp seeds. It's full of great recipes, preparation tips, and useful advice -- and honestly would be an excellent resource even for adults without kids!

Beautiful book, not many recipes
This is a gorgeous book. The photos are great, the information is super. I was hoping there would be more recipes, so I am a bit disappointed in that respect.

More than a just another resource to feeding your kids healthfully
I was pleasantly surprised to see that this book was more than just a list of healthy foods for kids. Every food has a description, along with interesting tips in sidebars and most importantly, practical and tasty suggestions on how to realistically serve these foods to your kids and family (besides it's not healthy if they don't actually eat it!) And the bonus is that the layout of the book makes it easy to read, with lovely photos and fun fonts and colors. A great addition to any parent's kitchen!

All parents need
Absolutely adore this author and her professional insight into the world of food. And she’s realistic! This book isn’t full of recipes (in case that’s what you’re lkkking for) but it’s full of info on the 101 healthiest foods (as title says). Great tool for any parents kitchen.

Nice pictures and layout
Helpful! If your already into health food then much of this won’t be new. I bought this book for grandma as she watches the kids a lot but is a cookies and cream grandma. She found it quite easy to use and has something for everyone
