Great Little Workhorse!
I bought this to make dog food. Eventually perhaps people food too. I found mine for over $50 less at the warehouse. Then after reading the reviews more thoroughly I became unsure and ordered another one. and then another one and tried to cancel the 2nd one. But it was too late. The third one arrives today. They are both STX.6 months ago i bought a Weston pro. Magnificent machine but nearly 40 lbs! I didn't want such a heavy one so I returned it. Then I bought the Kitchen Aid attachment grinder. Seemed to work very well. I was using it to grind chicken bones. But when I couldn't find chicken necks I bought wings and they bound it up. Probably the skin. My husband got it loose. But then earlier this week I was just grinding chicken meat and it got bound up again. So, I ordered this Weston. In spite of the reviews it seems like a great 5lb. machine. The review for this machine include another Weston of lesser power. I just did 23 lbs of chicken and beef and they didn't have to be semi frozen. As for breaking in four months; like at least two reviewers said, it will still be under warranty. I like that the gears are metal. It is noisy but not as noisy as my Blender on high. One of the reviews noted that the locking lever does not stay down. That is true. But I just cut off a little less than a 1/2" end off of a wine cork and then cut that in half. Then I pushed it into the hole to jam the lever down/locked during grinding. Pulled it out easily to clean the head. Very happy with my purchase.

Upgrade from KA attachment. Do it now
Got onto sausage making and as per usual start of with the minimum needed that being a Kitchen aid grinder stuffer attachment. Quickly (as in that day) ordered a 5lb sausage stufferWell got this grinder and the sound levels, grind quality and speed are well well WELL worth whatever the difference is if you have the KA attachmentsThe two grind plates are more than enough to grind for sausage and multiple hamburgers I’ve done sinceOnly downside is I wish I would’ve done this from the get go would’ve saved a few Saturdays of work

Great for making raw cat food
Easy to assemble and use. And also super easy to clean. I use it to make raw cat food out of whole chicken, bones and organs (there's also vitamins involved... I use a nutritional recipe). I make sure to take off all the skin and I don't grind the wings, since those are hard to get the skin off. And the one time I chose to grind the wings, the skin from those got wrapped around the blade and got jammed. It says you're not supposed to grind bones, but I do. And I did 2 chickens, one after another to test the motor. Shutting the grinder off for a couple of minutes to cool off in between. It is fabulous. It's my favorite part of the whole process. The only annoying thing about it (maybe I got a dud), the lock for the front bit doesn't stay locked. It wiggles about, when the grinder is operating. So I have to be mindful and periodically push it into locked position. Other than that I love it. And my cat is healthy and wont eat anything else but her raw chicken.Cleaning it is sooo easy too. And it just looks very well made. So far I processed about 10-12 chickens with it. I hope it lasts!

Worked great
This grinder worked great for us. It did get clogged once but we took it apart and then it didn’t happen again. We were able to grind venison and pork. It worked at a good speed for us and was easy to clean.

BUYERS BEWARE!! Broken after 4 months of use.
At first the grinder was awesome. I've grinded over 30lbs of meat so far and had it sit up for a few weeks. I get the grinder out along with my chilled meat, and start the process. After the first cube of meat I noticed an unusual sound and the meat didn't come through.. I stopped the grinder and unlock it to pull the rotary and blade out; cleared the meat and reassembled and started the machine up again. As I looked at the blade I noticed it wasn't rotating as usual to feed and grind the meat. Just as I suspected something internal broke and in the beginning of my process. This machine should last longer than what it did! Very dissatisfied with this product! Buyers beware! If you are looking for a product that's durable THIS ISN'T IT!

Nice grinder
So far so good. Bought this to grind venison and make sausage. Just finished my second deer and it worked great. I've put a lot of tuff cut through it and it chews it up no problem.

Powerful and user friendly
This does exactly what I want it to do - it grinds cooked chicken thighs, some with bones, for dog and cat food. They say not to grind bones in the instructions, but I took my chances. :)It makes quick work of boneless meat, raw or cooked, and we grind our own hamburger now. Haven’t used the sausage stuffer. And it is soooo easy to clean!!!
