INTERESTING & HARD TO PUT DOWN.....
I read book 1 in 2 days so when this FORBIDDEN GROUND BOOK 2 arrived i couldnt wait to read it.The author brings you into the characters lives quickly & in a well written way. Even tho the middle of the book did get a little wordy, repeating the same idea over & over again, the ending was a surprise & well brought out.I cant wait to read Book 3. I have also ordered the SOUTH SHORE SERIES OF 6 BOOKS too because i have ennoyed the author's way of writing! She draws you into their lives like they could be your own family......I recommend this COLD CREEK SERIES if you enjoy mysteries & a little romance. They keep you entertained with each turn of the pages....hard to stop reading!

Interesting backstory, not interesting characters
This is the second book in the Cold Creek series.Forbidden Ground returns us to fictional Cold Creek, OH, where the wedding of Gabe and Tess is about to take place. Tess' sisters, Charlene and Kate, have returned for the wedding. Kate, an anthropologist, has been in Europe studying Celtic civilization. While she's home, she is interested in studying the Adena mounds located near Cold Creek. One of the mounds resides on the property of Grant Mason. Grant runs the local lumber mill when he's not trying to keep his younger brother, Brad, out of trouble. Tess would love to have her sister come home for good and thinks that Grant may be another reason for Kate to stay.I really liked the first book in this series, partly because it's set in my (extended) back yard and partly because of the characters and the overall writing. However, even though this one hits the mark on the location, it does not hit the mark on the characters.SPOILER ALERTGrant and Kate both have things to hide; he doesn't want Kate poking around in the mound on his property because he and his buddies broke in there years ago and took some of the artifacts. Kate desperately wants to be the first to excavate the mound so that she can prove herself in the world of academia. Starting out a relationship based on half-truths and outright lies is never a good thing. On top of that, Grant is just angry all of the time. His anger seems juvenile and misplaced. I thought Kate should have put him in his place several times. I just couldn't see the love growing there, and it ruined the story for me.Also, it was so obvious that Carson Cantrell was going to turn out to be a jerk.Is it still better than a lot of the drivel out there (like the Twilight series)? Yes, it is. And if you're an Ohioan, you will enjoy seeing local spots mentioned. Despite having lived here my entire life, I didn't know anything about the Adenas or that there are 5k+ mounds in Ohio (I knew of the Serpent Mound, but that was it.)Recommend at part of the series.Β© Angela Risner 2014. a good book
I liked this book but not as much as some of Karen Harpers other books. This is the continuing story of the Lockwood sisters. The oldest sister Kate is an archeologist and is excited to prove a theory of Adena and Celts linking them together. Kate wants to excavate the Mason Mound, but needs Grant Masons permission. Then things begin to happen, secrets unfold, murder and now the plot thickens. There's always a love story mixed with mystery, crimes, and murders. It's very interesting, but I felt it took to long setting up the storyline. That being said I really enjoyed reading how the story all came together. It's definitely worth reading.

I would have given this book 5 stars but I ...
I would have given this book 5 stars but I thought the story was unfinished.. I wanted it to continue with the discovery of what was in the Mason Mound, what happen in Todd's recovery? I know they touch on the Mason Mound in book 3 but not in the detail they could have... I know they want to leave you wanting more and I understand that but they didn't give enough in book 3 when book2 was sooo focused on the mason mound

Not bad
A pretty well thought out story good plot and characters and a nice twist at the end. My only bad thing with this novel is the lack of passion and to be honest the 2 main characters were a bit drippy. I felt like I wanted to give them a shake. The first book about tess was better. I am moving on to sister number 3 and I just hope she has a bit more fire
