I am certain that many vaults are better than this, but, I would bet that none are better for this price! It really looks good!It is a China made product, but do NOT let that fact make you doubt it's quality. It is made very well.It can hold a smaller pistol or cash and valuables as it states and the tie-cable is good quality with plastic coated surface.You would not......NOT be able to use it to hold a full size 1911 Colt 45 auto, I am sure that they mean well, but this is much too small for that longer full size Colt 45 Auto! (IF you DO use it for the full size 45 auto, there is a good likelihood that a drop or bang could cause the gun to contact the outside of the case IMHO.) However, the smaller/shorter Springfield XD (and other shorter/smaller pistols would also do very well),will and DO work just fine. It is just not quite large enough to fit the longer pistols in inside and still protect it from bangs and bumps as it should.... a hard bang or drop very well may cause it to contact the inside of the box. This is a great safety enclosure for the money.It is made solid and the formed steel is stout! If you were looking for some really serious security, you would not be looking at a $20 vault, right? So do check out it's size and obvious limitations - everything no matter how expensive it may be, is limited in some way. Some are quite heavy too.This does give you the ability to securely strap it to something solid and make it more difficult for a crook or small child to get into.I will recommend this to any one to attach to bed stand or dresser to hold a security pistol or to make secure your wallet at night in your hotel room, etc. This is a great product for the price. Buy with confidence.

At home I have a safe to lock up all my weapons but when I travel to relative's homes or abroad, a safe is not always available. I've been relying on a cable lock through the weapon which does work but still attracts attention to the weapon. This little, inexpensive safe was perfect for my needs. It fit my largest gun, a S&W 5946 with room to spare all around. I can now lock it in the safe, cable it to something and rest easy. Out of sight, out of mind for anyone. People forget it exists and little hands are no longer curious. Perfect barrier against kids and honest people. It's a definite deterrent for dishonest people too but some heavy duty cutters will make short work of the cable and the safe can be opened later with simple hand tools. For my needs though, it's just what I needed. Very good quality and nice and weighty despite the small size. Also meets NSA requirements for when I declare a firearm while flying within the US. Can't beat the price and for some reason only cents less than the NV100 here on Amazon, why buy the smaller one when for less than 1 dollar you can have this one. Very happy with this product. Oh, and others have complained about smell or the cable slipping open. No smells at all and the cable is solid. I put one end on an eyehook in my garage and pulled on the other end with a pipe. I was able to swing myself (180 lbs) and the cable held up fine. No worries trusting it to secure my safe and it's contents.

I purchased this vault because of the company reputation reviews and the fact that it will fit full sized 1911a pistols and a magazine. The first thing i did was test the room. I was hoping i could fit both a 1911 pistol and my 642 snub nosed .38; but no cigar. It wasn't advertised as that big so i really can't complain. I may buy another for my other gun and ammo; their cheap enough. I did add sticky foam around bare steel perimeters and catch mechanism up front because a full sized pistol is a tight fit and you don't want to scratch it. As far as attachment. I ended up attaching it to the rear most right corner of the bed of my Toyota Tacoma. I used sticky tape and looped the cable around one of the tie down rungs but wasn't crazy about this method. I used one factory hole in the bottem under the foam and made another to mate with the upward ridges of my bed construction. Get under the truck first and make sure you won't be drilling into any wiring or lines etc. I pre drilled two pilot holes for two 5/16 inch half inch long hex head self tapping screws. These are large and strong. Go about three drill bit sizes down from the diameter you are using. Just vacuum out debris and clean holes with brake clean from any oil you may have used to drill the holes. Then use non corrosive silicone rubber and coat threads of screws and pump in holes. Then install screws with a ratchet and socket. Tighten hard. Get under the truck and clean and apply silicone where the screws broke through. You could use the cable as well for extra security but i have a locking lid on my bed which will provide extra security as well. For the money and sleek size it does the job. For me it was mostly about legality and peace of mind. If someone steals your'e truck and smashes open the safe and robs a bank with your'e 1911,other pistol or revolver ,you are covered. Think about it. They can break into anything, all you can do is make it as hard as you can for them. And above all cover yourself legally. I can see it all now: the FBI at your'e door asking you "is this yours"?!. Joe MASS

I purchased one of these mainly to keep my ipod classic safe in the boot of my car, after someone stole my old ipod when it was tucked down the side of the passenger seat attached to the usb port on a short lead. I soon got fed up constantly removing my new ipod from my car all of the time so looked for a lockable vault of some sort and this seemed like the only thing to fit the bill, however seemingly available only from the US. But I plumped for it anyway and decided to buy some long usb leads (available from Amazon description here) :-Certified By Apple - Lifetime Warranty - Bundle of 3 Extra Long 6.5 Feet MFi USB Charger Cables for Apple iPhone 4, 4s, 3gs, 3g iPod touch 1, 2, 3, 4, iPad 1, 2, 3 - for Sync and Charging - Premium MFi Quality (Red + Black + White, 30-pin)by The Friendly Swede...which were just long enough to reach from the usb along the floor and into the boot.Gloriously my plan worked and the secure cable that came with the vault and the long usb cable were both slender enough to fit through the hole in the vault. I can attach the secure cable to the vault and hide it underneath the floor in the boot, and the usb attaches nicely to the ipod. There is also enough room to put my sat nav in (original also stolen) which is a bonus, all protected by the nice thick foam in the vault.There are a couple of holes on the underside of the vault and my next step is to physically screw it to the internal body of the car.It's great to have a lockable (2 keys provided) sturdy and very solid box in the car which is also useful to shove other small items (rings, currency) into if you are out and about and don't fancy carrrying them around.I was also very pleased with Synergy Data who provided the unit, as there was a problem with the delivery and I had to pay for customs into the UK. My understanding was all charges were included and when I explained this they said there had been an issue at their end and IMMEDIATELY refunded the extra charge. Brilliant. Recommended.
