Excellent tawa, Genuine cast iron
Excellent tawa, genuine cast iron. However, it comes without seasoning. Unless you season it properly, you can not use it..For seasoning sellers suggested frying onions once. However, it may not be sufficient if you do once, you will have to repeat the process until a good film is formed..I have done seasoning using OTG. Apply oil film lightly across the full surface (both sides) and heat it in the OTG at 200 degrees Centigrade for one hour. A nice film will form and the tawa will become as good as non stick..If you use it without proper seasoning, it will pick up rust, and also the surface wont be smooth and so you can not really make use of it. I am enclosing photos of the tawa here, first one purchased condition of the tawa and the second one after seasoning..The tawa is completely flat and it works well on induction stove..The only reason I am giving 4 stars (instead of 5) is due to its handle. It is short and flat along with the tawa and when you place the tawa on a flat surface like kitchen top, its difficult to pick it up. They could have made a small angle for the handle so that there is enough space to hold it. Even better, they could have added a wooden handle so that it becomes easy to handle the tawa when it is hot.

Good product, purpose is served.
The media could not be loaded. I received the product yesterday(14/Sep/2019), and thn yesterday evening I followed the procedure as mentioned in the description for seasoning...and this was the outcome of my very first and 2nd trial today morning.. almost with zero oil you can say. Today I just wiped it with a oily(very lightly oiled) cotton cloth once the tawa became hot, and thn this was the result,..so I m content with the product, though the size seems small but the seller can't be blamed for it, as it's alalready mentioned.. 10 inch, I thought this size will be okay for single person...as I received just thinking if the size could be bigger, as I love to experiment with cooking.

Good for cooking dosa
Review after 15 months of useMy first experience with cast iron dosa tawa was very good. The dosas may be prepared with less oil depending on the tawa seasoning. The texture of the dosa prepared in such cast iron tawa is really good. I think this comes from the thickness of the Tawa. My tawa cracked after a year of regular use. May be we quenched it with water while really hot and it must have stressed the cast iron. No complaints to the manufacturer for this one.We still use the tawa with the crack

Good performance and a killer price
Performance wise it’s an excellent pan. It needs a few coats of seasoning to get going. I followed 5 coats of seasoning after which it was excellent for dosas and chillas. Only complaint if needed to be made was if they could have designed a separate handle for people who wish for a handle it would be great. But can’t take away from the quality of the pan Also it’s made by rural artisans so it’s a good way to help them.

All in one tawa...
Our kitchen has so many tawas, but this is the most versatile one, once it's heated up, it gives the aluminium, anodised, Teflon coated ones a run for their money. Just sprinkle a spoonful of salt and rub it after it cools down to clean it, and a spoonful of oil to protect it... And it's back in business, dosas, chapati, stuff parotha, thalipit, nir dosa, shallow fry potatoes wedges or any thing of that kind.. it's just manages to do all of it with ease...No doubt our ancestors liked this so much...

What a great Tawa
Since long I have been thinking to own a cast iron tawa as teflon is not good for health and with moderate temp (as as high temperature damages the teflon coat) you can not make crispy Dosa. After few research I decided to buy this one due to cost benifit and I was not sure of the quality.I got the tawa within few days of order and I put some extra efforts season the tawa and now I love to eat my cripsy non oily Dosa . I am attaching a pic of this morning to show how the oil free dosa are coming up .There are some improvement area 1) there is no handle so it's bit difficult to use 2) may be 11 inch dia would be an ideal size for making home dosas

Bad finish
Cast is OK. But the surface is not finished well. Lots of molding soil sticking, many pits on the surface edges are not finished at all. I had to use a grinder to finish the edges to avoid hurting hands.

Keeper
Loved it. In fact, every type of dosai comes out well on this dosa cast iron kallu/stone..I had made adai and rava dosai and they all came out perfect. But you need to season it per seller instructions but I would say, repeat the seasoning process couple of times. And then use it.The only challenge is with the rim of the tawa, they could raise it a bit high to prevent the ghee or oil from spilling out. Otherwise an excellent product.
