Each Day a New Beginning: Daily Meditations for Women (Hazelden Meditations)

Love this little book, daily quotes etc. most of the daily messages are applicable to a lot of situations EXCEPT ! I did not understand that the messages would refer to the “program “ That may be fine for some, if that applies. And please don’t misunderstand but that is not what I was looking for. I would have given this four stars if there was a lot less mention to the “ program” and mor general and generic! The women’s issues are wonderful, but not everyone has an issue with substance abuse!

I love waking up in the morning and reading these..... I relate a lot to them.

I love this book. I read it every morning to start my day. I also pass it along to other women in my AA fellowship. I buy it for my sponsees if they can’t afford it. It moves and inspires me as much, if not more, than my official AA literature.

I've gone through five of this book over the years, they've become so dog-earred and worn, I couldn't red them any more. They are my daily reading ritual. Nothing too heavy and not religious. Just one page each day with a two or three line quote from someone of note. Yesterday, April 2, was Golda Meir. Then a short paragraph about one positive thought for each day. I'm not one who usually goes for these things but this is one I live by and the ones I've given as gifts have meant the world to the ones who received them. Really, GO GET ONE! There are several covers but the book remains the same.

A wonderful book with a quick page devoted for each day, including: A quote, an explanation, and mantra/goal that are all related. My book has a copyright 1982 - despite the listing on amazon saying 2006. Really not a problem though. Excellent book to set your daily thoughts by. Nice index in the back so you can jump to an ideal or concept for when you need to focus on something specific.

Book arrived kind of beat up. Corners of the pages were folded and the back has a large crease with some stain, discoloration along the bottom and corners. Front has a large crease on the corner. Split down the middle of one page. Buyer beware what seller considered a "good" used product.

Each day contains a quote, a message, and an affirmation for the day. Mornings are always the most hectic for me, but I do feel so centered when I can take a second for myself and read. This is the perfect solution, as it takes no more than a minute or two to read through; yet the messages can be deep and thought-provoking and you can easily turn it into a longer reflection by journaling a response to the message. Plus, somehow each day seem applicable to my current situation! So glad I found this little gem.

I purchased this book after giving away my first copy. It is a wonderful daily devotional with spirituality based on the recovering alcoholic 12 step program. I am a christian but this can speak from many spiritual points of view. I love the daily readings, one page each in length but loaded with wisdom, encouragement in facing daily life challenges with relationships, other struggles and self worth. It's gets me out of myself and teaches me how to regard people who enter my life moment to moment. Life is not all about me or my struggles which is a recurrent theme. At the same time the daily readings teach, encourage and instruct the reader how to live in a world of relationships and how to learn and grow to be the person you want to be. I highly recommend this book. I believe it is published or endorsed by the Hazelden treatment centers for recovering alcoholics. I am not an alcoholic but love this book and would recommend it for women in general.

Beautiful read. There is a strong religious undertone but for me I replace the word god with the word universe and it works for me. It has an empowering female note to it and would make an excellent gift for someone or like I did - a gift to myself

Reading this book daily for the last couple of years, bought as a gift. So good, its a joy to pass it on!
