Q: The replacement d70 8v bulbs from old versions are discontinued. does this bell push use an led for illumination? if so, then how long will it last?

It is illuminated with a neon not a led I have had mine 2 years and it is still good Hope this helps

Q: how do you change the nameplate?

You need to gently prize off the top cover of the push button assembly and then you will be able to remove the triangular clear plastic that is holding the name plate against the back of the push button assembly. Once you have changed or removed and replaced the name paper you simply reverse the dismantling procedure and finish by clipping the top cover back over everything. I hope this helped you. Clive.

Q: Are spare lamps/bulbs easy to buy and replace?

I’ve seen references to the D723 being illuminated by a neon - since neon gas needs at least 80vac to strike, I think thi is unlikely!

Q: Does this item have a bulb inside,?

Yes, it does, but the D70 bulb is now obsolete and almost impossible to source, so once it blows, replace the entire unit, or use without illumination
