Good color, black levels not great, significant 3D grayscale errors, some rainbows.
I'm rating this projector at 4 stars for the price point. The good:The colors and flesh tones are good. If you're used to an OLED or high-end LED/LCD flat panel, you're really going to notice the color isn't as vivid. However, the accuracy (once calibrated) is quite good, and the gamut is better than many cheap projectors. The saturation is definitely better than other projectors that have color wheels with white segments. The brightness is a little less than I expected based upon reviews, but still very bright. I'm projecting on a 1:0 gain matte white screen at 92" diagonal 16x9. It is fairly bright for this image size in a dark room - if you're in 2D mode - but could use some more brightness.Room for improvement:-Black levels aren't spectacular. They are notably inferior to my 10-year-old Mitsubishi WD-82837 DLP RPTV. But the Mits has a dynamic iris, which the viewsonic doesn't.-I am sensitive to DLP rainbow effect, and I see more rainbows with this projector than I do on my Mitsubishi. In program material it is less noticeable, but on static images I see it more.-In 3D mode, once calibrated, the picture isn't bright enough at 92" on a gainless screen, even in a dark room.-The biggest flaw of the projector is, there are significant grayscale errors in 3D mode. Strangely, each time you adjust the contrast control a notch, the brightness level and hue of each gray element on a test pattern changes significantly. It still looks fairly good on program material, but the errors are there and strange (3D testing was done with a 3D calibration disc and looking through good quality DLP-Link glasses.-The default contrast settings cause notable peak white clipping in 3D mode, and annoying posterization of gradients. When the contrast is set in 3D mode such that none of the segments of the test pattern are clipped (all are visible and distinguishable from white background) and brightness aka black level is calibrated properly, the clipping and gradient posterization is eliminated but the 3D image is much darker than the out of the box and too dark for my tastes on a gainless matte screen at 92".The 3D is smooth and filmlike with absolutely zero perceptible ghosting/crosstalk, and minimal motion artifacts.Note that in all of the projector's color modes, whites are clipped unless the contrast is adjusted down several steps, but in 3D mode it needs to come way down.Note I'm using Firestorm XL True Depth glasses, which are my favorite out of several different glasses that I own.it is true that the fan noise is a little loud, but to me it isn't as bad as some have described.Sound from the built in speaker is surprisingly loud and clear without distortion or rattling/vibration.It runs very hot, and was still hot to the touch on the top of the unit in the vicinity of the lamp after it had been powered down for somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes. As heat is a killer of electronic components, I wonderif this might have implications for long-term reliability.I bought it primarily for 3D, as I have a large 3D collection and 3D televisions have been out of production for a few years. if you don't need to project too large an image and you have a dark room and a small budget, it will do the job nicely.DLP-Link sync was not a problem. I was able to watch an entire movie laying down in bed and looking way up at the screen off-axis and the glasses never lost sync once. On some other projectors, I've found that being slightly off the vertical axis causes sync loss. Perhaps this is because the DLP-Link sync flash is bright green on this projector as opposed to a duller white on my others. If it were a bit brighter and had better blacks, I'd love it for the price, but it's still pretty good for what it is.

A bit dissapointed at first, but grew to love it
I bought this projector after having owned the Epson 2040 for a few years since I wanted a projector with better darks at a reasonable price. Upon plogging the projector in I was surprised by the picture quality, but was a little dissapointed that this projector only had a 1.1 zoom in comparison to my epsons 1.2 zoom. Although it is not that much of a difference in paper, it is notable in person. I would recommend choosing the image setting movie rec. 709 as it has the best looking picture in my opinion. Now, the things that bothered me the most for the first few days was the sound quality and turning on the fast input option ( for gaming). The sound quality on my Epson was much better in comparison, but much quieter. I did eventually got used to the sound ( which is pretty loud so that's a plus) because I'm not that picky with that anyway. It was just the initial difference ai noticed which bothered me. If you are picky with sound quality, get some speakers. The reason I dislike the 3x input option is because it resets your image, and if you don't have your projector at the right spot to make the image look perfectly alined, it's gonna look like a trapezoid. The image adjustment is manual and only vertical so make sure you your projector in the middle and not an angle. You might think, " hey just readjust the image". Well, if you do that it turns off fast input, so you have to have it at the perfect spot. This would have been anoying if the input lag was bad without it, but it's not. This projector is really responsive for gaming even without the setting turned on. Definitely faster than my Epson 2040. I play games like Apex legends and For honor. I know I've been sounding pretty negative so far, but in truth I love this projector. It has beautiful colors, sharpness and comes with a 3 year guarantee for the projector and 1 year for the lamp. It has 100% rec. 709 which you can get in other projectors like the BenQ 3050 that cost around 200 dollars more. It is pretty quiet on eco mode, but not in standard mode.So the overall pros are*Great picture quality*Great color accuracy (100% rec. 709)*Quiet eco mode*Low input lag for gaming even without the 3x option on*Fairly long guarantee (3 years for projector and 1 year for lamp)*Remote control lights up in the dark*Turns on and off fairly quick compared to what I used toOverall cons* Having to place your projector at the perfect spot to avoid trapezoid shape when using 3x input lag option* Sound could be better*You can hear it if you have it on standard mode near you I feel the pros greatly outweight the cons and I feel satisfied with the overall experience.

Great picture but it's not a bright pop.
Great colorful picture with deep blacks as well. Wish it was little brighter, make sure your room can get darkly dark. I'm going to get some blackout curtains, the picture is definitely worth going through some effort because it's really a quality picture. Mine was refurbished from the company, truly excellent shape, new in a generic box, well packed, excellent deal, very happy. It's not like you can't adjust the brightness, and we are happier with it everyday that passes. Don't know what the rainbow thing is (in other words don't see that).

Wow
I’ve been using this for a few months now. Overall for the price, I’m really impressed with the picture. I had some issue with The rainbow effect at the beginning, but now I have to go out of my way to notice it.Enjoy the sheer size of the image and looks quite well even though 1080p. It would be hard to go back to a TV for my main viewing. My biggest con (and doesn’t really bother me) is the fan can be loud. I’m usually in ECO mode, so the fan isn’t quite as noticeable.

Great Quality and Value
We've had our PX725HD ViewSonic projector for a couple of months now and we're glad we bought this unit. Excellent picture quality @ 120 inches diagonal screen. Outdoor movie nights are always something our family looks forward to. I connected a Bluetooth device from the Audio Out mini-jack connector and paired my Bluetooth speakers to enhance the sounds for action movies. I highly recommend this projector if you're looking for great cinematic quality for the outdoors.

Excellent mais...
PX725HD.
