GACE Early Childhood Education 001, 002 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide (XAM GACE, 1)

This book was fairly comprehensive. It was my only study tool for the GACE, and I'm very thankful to say that I PASSED IT!!! Hooray!! It goes through all of the content areas that will be tested on the 001 and 002 Early Childhood Education exams. It might be helpful for you to seek complementary study tools as well, though.My only gripe about this study guide is the amount of typographical mistakes it has--HORRENDOUS! The author needs a better editor or something. It's as if the book was written in a hurry.Bottom line is, its effective. I'm glad I studied using this book regardless of all of its little mistakes.

I have been using this book for a few weeks and have come across several errors that concern me. I teach language arts, so I know the content well, and at least two of the sample test questions were incorrect.For example, to answer "Which of the following sentences contains an error in agreement?" the book answers "A. Jennifer is one of the women who writes for the magazine. "Women" is the plural subject of the verb, so the correct verb is write." This is completely incorrect. Of the women is a prepositional phrase, making women the object of the preposition. The subject for the verb writes would actually be the conjunction/pronoun who - which is singular, meaning writes is the correct response. So, for this question, there was no correct answer.Another sample question tries to state that a theme is directly stated in literature - which the previous page just said that theme is never directly stated (which is true, with the exception of some traditional literature, like fables).All in all, I know enough about language arts to use the book as a good review of the early elementary stuff like encoding and decoding, but I am really worried about its accuracy in my weaker areas. While it is better than nothing, I would not recommend this book to anyone else, because after finding 2 errors within 50 pages, I would not be able to guarantee that it would not teach them something wrong.**Also, if you plan to take the GACE after August 2013, the test will be changing, so I'm not sure how accurate this book will be then.

This book did not help me prepare for the GACE test at all. There were numerous misspelled words and wrong answers. Keep your money. The book was real disappointment.

This book helped me to pass my exam the 1st time. It’s also a great resource tool for first year teachers.
