Great mat cutter, it can handle full sheets of mat board. Great for mass producing same size mats. Many extras to make mat cutting enjoyable. I don't care for the pull towards me bevel cutter. Still using the push model cutter.

My old Logan cutter needed replacing after 40 years. I ordered this one and it was just in time for cutting more than 20 mats for a show. The cutters work very well. It is easy to get replacement blades but so far I have cut about 30 mats without need of replacement blades. The straight cuts are done with one tool. The other tool cuts perfect 45 degree angles. When you get a white core mat with a nice color (say blue) then the bevel shows the nice, clean white border around picture or drawing.

The Logan Graphic Products Inc. 450-1 Artist Elite Mat Cutter was a great step up from using a handheld mat cutting tool. Great you-tube videos helped decide what to buy in the Logan product line and assembly once received. At the end of the first day, I was able to cut a mat my first mat precisely as desired and was pleased with the the result. Be aware, I spent thee hours checking all the measures and comparing to actual cut marks. I plan to do multiple mat matting and this unit will work just fine. One recommendation that I can offer to a new buyer is to become familiar with all the scales and adjustment features by using scrap stock and practice with the blade in place to create small notches at points of contact and confirm expected measures with a tape measure. I found out of the box that the guide rail was not parallel to the blade slot and had to use the adjustment screws as directed. Secondly, the measuring bar used with the measuring bar stop measure is off by 3/32 of an inch. For every desired distance, I now simply subtract 3/32" on the adhesive backed scale for the desired cut. The mat guide scale was perfectly set. Finally, as a right-handed person, I found it cumbersome to make a bevel cut and look over my right hand to view the start/stop line on the bevel cutting head and proximity to the pencil line. In my opinion, although not perfect, the Logan Graphic Products Inc. 450-1 Artist Elite Mat Cutter works very well for my personal use. The minor drawbacks are not deal breakers and are easily addressed. I am glad that I purchased the 40" system to handle full stock sheets. I recommend this unit for the hobbyist.

Once you learn the correct method to measure and cut, this mat cutter does a great job. We use it in our art business, though it’s not advertised to perform commercially it does a fine job and most problems encountered are operator error, not the fault of the cutter. Shortly after receiving this cutter, we matted and framed a pastel which was entered into a statewide art competition and within 3 days that work sold. The custom made mat and frame made all the difference. If you’re doing a lot of mat cutting, purchase extra replacement blades and switch them out regularly. Highly recommended and affordable for the artist or photographer. I run a small Photography business, and purchased the 450-1 to allow me to mat and frame my photographs. The cutter is fantastic, and easy to use. After viewing the dvd that came with it, I cut my first Mat perfectly. I even did several double Mat mountings and again perfect cuts and they were done in no time at all.The 40" allows me to purchase full sized boards and save a bundle on matting photographs in the various sized frames. The cutters are easy to work with and the cuts look just as good as the ones I had done at a frame shop prior to this purchase.The only down side, I have seen with this item is that I wish the side ruler was longer, however to account for larger cuts, I purchased a T-square from Lowes to allow me to measure larger mats than the side ruler will allow.All in all, it was a great addition to my equipment, allowing me to reduce the cost for mounting while not completely emptying my pockets of cash.

I couldn't trust the rulers at all. I can use it if I make pencil marks and eye ball my cut. I have experience in picture framing and should have saved more money and bought a Fletcher. If you need accurate cuts +/- 1/16" make sure you have extra mats and boards. I worked for a professional framing company and thought this might work. Depressing
