The Dual-Sided Gate Latch by Optimus Hardware is a revolutionary product. This gate latch allows the user to lock and unlock the gate from both sides of the gate with a padlock. The locking point is located in the middle of the post between the gate and the post. This unique locking point allows the user to swing the padlock to the front or the back side of the gate to lock or unlock it. It also features levers in the front and rear that allow the user to easily unlatch the latch from both sides of the gate. No more need for a string or reaching over your gate. It also has an elongated mouth to allow for changes in the weather which cause your gate to change its strike position. There is a unique padlock storage hole in the front of the latch that allows the user to store their padlock there when they want the gate to be used by friends, the gardener, the pool guy or the pizza delivery person. This gate latch makes entry and exiting through your gate easy. For all the features of the Dual Sided Gate Latch to work properly the manufacture recommends a 1" minimum gap between your gate and your post. For gates without a 1" gap the manufacture recommends that the installer notches the gate. The latch can be installed on gates with gaps as small as 5/8" but the pad lock storage will not work.

Works well enough
The quality and sturdiness is a little less than I was hoping for, but at this price it certainly works well enough.I was mainly needing a latch that I could open from both sides, and this does the job.My privacy fence gate only has a small 1" wide gap, so although this works, it's a little tricky to fish one finger in to grab the padlock from one side. Also, the latch I was replacing had big lag bolts holding it in place; nice & sturdy. But this latch has smaller screws holding it; which also only require a Phillips screwdriver to remove (if you're really worried about security...)Again, for the price, I'm satisfied. Easy installation with a screwdriver and cordless drill (to pre-drill the screw holes).

Mostly like
While it tells you to leave space if you are going to use a padlock, youโll want to leave more than recommended. Otherwise hard to get fingers in to work the lock

Very difficult to use
We have had this now for a year and I am looking to replace. It is already rusting and is extremely hard to use the lever that's supposed to unlatch. between having to undo a lock and then trying to unlatch you will undoubtedly end up not even using the lock and to get it to latch behind you half the time the gate isn't even getting closed now. Not trying to spend 5 min trying to get through my gate.

It works... but
It works, but it is kind of clunky. It is hard to open and will not close like conventional latches. You can't just close the gate behind you, you must lift the latch and close it every time.

Only one like it I finally found!
Exactly what I was looking for! Had to search a lot on Amazon to find it. Easy to install, only thing I did different was I used hex bolts instead of the included screws on outside of fence. The included screws would have worked fine.

Dual sided gate opener, works great!
Works great! I designed and built my gate and wanted to be able to open from either side of the gate.. I have a combo lock installed so I may have keyless entry. Install was easy!
