It works pretty well for me! No complaints. It's really simple to use and I get a quick clean cut on my bagels each time. Its also easy to clean and durable.

Why do some companies not slice the bagels? This keeps my fingers safe while I slice

Purchased this item because it appears to be an improvement over the old competing guillotine product, plus it is being sold by the very NY company I buy my bagels from. Definitely works better - two halves are more evenly cut with no risk to my fingers being cut in the process, but the problem is as others have previously stated - the area where the bagel is placed remains too small for most bagels. Bagels are never perfectly round and the concaved areas in the cutter are, which means the bagel will never fit perfectly into the space provided, BUT with a little work and some squishing of the bagel itself, the two sides of the cutter can be closed sufficiently enough to get a decent and predictable cut into 2 equal halves. I didn't have a problem inserting a knife and I always use a serrated knife to cut my bagels. The product would be a 5 star product if they just made the concaved area where the bagel is placed a little bigger - maybe 3/4"

I have been using this slicer for about six months. It's so easy! Here's how I use it. I buy unsliced bagels and freeze them. When it's bagel time, I take a frozen bagel, microwave it for 30 seconds, slice it in the Halve Your Bagel, then toast it using the bagel setting on my toaster (to your preference). Oh my they come out so beautifully, with a nice color and good chew. Try this amazing slicer for yourself!

I was super excited to get this product as cutting bagels can be difficult for my children. But using the item isn’t that easy. You need to be able to squeeze it closed and move the knife, back-and-forth with one hand and sometimes it’s just not that easy. Kids aren’t able to use it. So back to the old-fashioned way

This is adorable on my counter. I was really excited to cut my first bagel! It was so much easier to slice with this slicer. The bagel came out perfect. It is easy to clean. And is well made. I love the Costco bagels and have one just about every morning. But I have a really hard time cutting them evenly! And also managed to carve into my finger once with a super sharp serrated Cutco knife! Needless to say this made me really want a tool for cutting bagels evenly and without finger involvement! I purchased this because it looked better than the guillotine ones that seem gimmicky. The big problem with this one is that literally the ONLY way it would work is if the bagel was pretty much the EXACT thickness of the interior of the clamp. Well the Costco bagels are big and beefy! I placed one inside and the clamp was probably open over an INCH. So I of course pressed the top together holding it tight in my left hand while attempting to cut through the compressed bagel with the right. It was near impossible to do because having to hold it that tight meant that the KNIFE also received that tight pressure. I tried it twice with two different knives and both times it was a huge fail. This thing is supposed to make it EASIER to cut the bagel not HARDER!!You would think that the makers would have attempted to cut through different sized bagels and found out how ridiculous it was to use but sadly either they didn’t or they didn’t care! It would have been nice if they had a slider or insert or SOMETHING to make it work on more than one thickness of bagel. If your bagels are big and thick do NOT GET THIS item!!!

This product works very well, slices the bagels we make ourselves and prevents injury. Very well made and will last for years. If you are a bagel eater and slicer you will love this product.
