When I got my solostove bonfire, I was worried about leaving it out over night while the wood was still burning. My concern was either morning dew, or rain while I was sleeping. I read an article about the campfire defender and what it was made for. I went ahead and purchased this and I am glad I did. It fit perfectly over it and by the next morning my solostove was perfectly dry while the rest of my yard was wet from a light shower of rain we got over the night while I was sleeping. The coals were still hot, and my solostove was well protected.

Got this for my boyfriend, who loves to have a campfire. It may be his favorite gift ever :) We get visitors to our campsite to check it out...as we're often the only site with a campfire going, after a rainy night or damp conditions. It definitely works as described - we just put it over the coals (often at night) & in the morning they're still dry & hot so we can crank the fire right back up. It's pure genius & it's always in our (car) camping gear. This is a heavy item, you'll not be taking it backpacking but perfect for car &/or camper camping & Scout troops, etc.

Great product, works well. Only problem I had with it is it requires a steak stabbed into the middle of your fire and the site I was camping at had a concrete bottom fire pit.

I used it once and it burned hole in the corner, I think where it was touching a piece of wood. It’s heavy and expensive. I have found that it’s more trouble than it’s worth to haul it with me camping.

I was glad to find a product like this as it will allow me to "bank" my coals safely overnight so I can get the morning fire going quickly for cooking breakfast instead of starting from scratch. It is extremely well made and I am very happy with it. Because of the defender I use several gallons less water every trip because before I git this product I would make sure my campfire was out cold before going to sleep every night. Now I just use the defender, go to sleep without worrying about the fire and have hot coals in the morning. This is a great piece of outdoor gear that will make campfires much safer.

For responsible campers, this fire blanket is a must. We no longer have to drown our fire or smother it with dirt before we go to sleep. We put the blanket over the coals and our secure that our fire will not spread while we sleep. In the morning, we can just put more logs on and heat up the chill. It comes in its own carry bag with gloves and pikes to keep the blanket down, though it is pretty heavy on its own.

This thing is awesome and I hope it works as described. One of two things happens just about every time I start a fire so more often than not I don't start one, it either gets windy or starts raining, around here it is really scaring if the wind picks up and you have a fire going. Last spring I was camping with the family and thinking how nice it would be to have some sort of fire blanket to put over it if the wind picked up, low and behold a couple month later I seen this. Great idea and the way it's made is super quality.

Edge melted and top (green part) that was above the fire turned permanently blue and developed small cracks (started deteriorating) after first use. I returned the damaged product but only received a 50% refund.
