Leaks water
Leaks water. The light indicating that its on NEVER stays. The extra steam is great but the amount of water that leaks from the iron when pressing the steam button makes it useless.

Best iron I’ve ever owned
It’s been almost 3 years since I bought this iron and I can definitively say it is the best iron I’ve ever owned. I do a lot of decorative sewing and use my iron very regularly. The steam feature on this iron is awesome but even more awesome is that it’s a longggg time between fill ups of the water reservoir. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been ironing and thought that it was surely time to refill it, but nope. If something happens to the one I have, I will definitely be buying another if it’s still available at that time.

IT DIED edit May 28
I purchased this iron in December 2018. It met all my usual conditions - ceramic soleplate, lots and lots of steam, auto shutoff - and at first it was so great I was ready to order a second one . Today it just died - no warning, no anything. I abuse my irons - I sew and fuse lots of interfacing so my irons gets messed up. I usually wind up dropping the iron and ruining it. This iron just died - D-E-A-D. If you are looking for a reliable iron - avoid this one.UPDATE! I found out that there was a warranty on this iron. after a couple of emails to amazon and Martison, the company sent me brand new iron. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Although I did purchase another iron, I will use the new martison as my backup. I love when a company stands behind its products.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS IRON
I bought this 2 years ago and it's still going strong. I'm almost worried to jinx it. I'm a big time quilter and need a LOT of heat and steam. I use this iron several hours every single day. It's never let me know. I love it.! Great for quilting.

Great Iron for the price
We cracked our $80 Rowenta iron and while looking for a replacement came across the Martisann Sg-5008. We didn't expect much due to the price but after receiving and using it, I must admit it is a very good iron. It does NOT have a stainless steel sole plate but the coated plate does work very well and the iron has all the same features. The steam burst is more powerfull then the Rowenta steam burst so far. Durability can not be determined to our limited use so far, but for the price - why not try it. We have used ours for 3 months on a limited basis.

Pros: cheap Cons: Spits water, lousy steam execution
Steam production is erratic. If set to 1 or 2 there's no steam unless you depress the burst button first. The burst itself has no adjustment and is so massive & forceful as to generate a kickback against your hand. The amount of boiling water it spits out leaves a distinct wet hole pattern on the surface & flies out from under the sole plate as to make it dangerous. If steam is set to 3 & the temp is at cotton or above AND the reservoir is full, it will produce an abundance of steam without the otherwise prerequisite burst. As soon as the reservoir gets near half full, the need to prime the steam production with a burst returns. Why have a large reservoir if you have to fill it while it's still half full? This is my first inexpensive iron in decades of purchasing top shelf brands at offensively high prices and pampering them with distilled water. The longest they last is a year and a half. The difference between this one and the expensive ones is this one is crap right out of the box.

Steam feature does not work properly
I am a quilter and I make a lot of alterations on clothing. I ordered this iron mostly for the high heat. That is great. But the steam feature does not work properly, When I turn the steam button on I expect to get steam when I iron the material I am working on, but most of the time, that does not happen. It works best if I use the spray function first. I don't like that. It also annoys me that very few irons are made without an automatic shutoff. It is a real pain and wastes a lot of time waiting for the iron to reheat every time I want to use it.
