Great information on ancient southern Asia, and the region not often highlighted in Asian studies.

Well researched, readable volume, part of a best-of series, that addresses the under-reported history of the Ancient world in SOuth Asia.So many ancient texts spend little to no time on this area. This is a great addition to your home or school library. Several adults (teachers) found plenty they didn't already know in this volume.Readable and well paced.

...perhaps for middle schoolers. Written for libraries. Emphasis on meager material findings. There are more engaging sources available.

Kenoyer and Heuston have put together a solid introdution to (Ancient) South Asia. This book is written at about a middle school level and I use selections for this book with various middle school and upper elementary school students that I work with. Why is this book great? one reason: It has the most up to date scholarship presented in small chapters and units that can be used for teaching non-university students. For those of you familiar at all with the writing of academics know this is an extremely rare treat.
