The Mystery of The Haunted Farm

Comic book meets picture book done in Ghostbusters style

My daughter is 4 and never gets tired of this book. Us parents enjoy it too. It reads almost like a comic. Great illustration and humor. I will keep it for my grand kids someday,

This is my daughter's favorite book. She was so excited to get it for christmas.

Farmer Greg wakes up one day after a night of sleepwalking and discovers that his farm has been invaded by zombie ducks, a sea monster in the pond, ghosts, and slimy creatures. He calls the only creatures he knows: The Three Pigs Ghost-Hunters. They rush to Farmer Greg's farm and using their special equipment, attempt to solve THE MYSTERY OF THE HAUNTED FARM. They begin at the pond, then move to the house, and to the barn. However, the mystery runs deep and it takes the pigs longer than usual to solve the haunting. I really enjoyed THY MYSTERY OF THE HAUNTED FARM and most older elementary children probably will, too. There are a lot of allusions made in the little cartoons and word bubbles that will go completely over kids' heads, but adults will find entertaining (references to THE SHINING and THE GHOSTBUSTERS for instance). The story has a twist towards the end and children will probably really find the final page quite funny. Overall, THE MYSTERY OF THE HAUNTED FARM is a good book for Halloween time, but can be read anytime during the year and not feel out of season.

My nephew loved it, though the zombie geese were a bit gory.Too scary for under 7

今は色々なタイプの絵本が出ていますが、エリス・ドランさんの絵本も革命的な絵本作家の１人ではないかと思います。全体を通したSTORYの面白さが抜群に良いだけでなく、ユーモアのある登場キャラクターの細かいところを楽しめるようになっているので、子ども受けがいいです。ちょっと難しい単語が混じっているのも、私としては、語彙が増えるのでいい感じです。こちらのHaunted Farmは、ただのハロウィンストーリーではなく、思いもよらない落ちが待っていました笑私の6歳の子どもはアヒルゾンビが好きそうでした。

As the author once told her friends, "Sally used to babysit me and my brothers!" As a person, Elys is one of the loveliest people you could meet. As an author and illustrator, she's also one of the most talented. Even in our office, when I get one of her books delivered for me to take home, it is always met with enthusiasm from my colleagues, who admire the great stories and the delicious detail in the pictures. I love the style of Elys's illustration, the simple boldness, the bold simplicity, it's beautiful.
