The Everything Glycemic Index Cookbook (Everything® Series)

A great book for healthy cooking
I have heard about the Glycemic Index before and have recently decided to give it a try. I purchased the paperback cookbook and am very happy with it. The author is a registered dietitian and gives a good explanation about what the glycemic index is, how it is calculated, and what is considered a good index. This gives me confidence that the recipes will taste good and help me to meet my health goals.I enjoy flipping through cookbooks. This book has a nice layout. Each recipe fits on a page so there isn't any flipping back and forth. Each recipe lists the calories, carbs, protein, fat, and a general Glycemic Index rating of zero, very low, low or moderate. This is very helpful in determining how this fits into your meal plan. Each chapter has a list of the recipes so you can see them all in one place. Each recipe has a sentence or two on what makes it unique. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, soups, salads, snacks, side dishes, and desserts. There is a section for dressings and sauces, too. Dressings and sauces can be a nutritional trap, so it is nice that these are included.The recipes look good. I haven't tried any of them yet, but most of them look like things I would consider cooking and enjoy eating. Some cookbooks do all they can to be exotic and different. These recipes all look like everyday home cooking, which is what I like.The index in the back of the book is thorough. You can look up an ingredient and find all the recipes that use it.There are no pictures in the book. I think that is OK because the recipe names are straightforward and there is a description of each. That probably helps to keep the cost down, too.I am looking forward to trying a lot of these recipes. I am very happy with this purchase.

Receipes are Good
I have read and followed Dr. Hymann's book, The Blood Sugar Solution. Everything GL Index added variety to our meals. Easy to follow recipes and you will find most ingredients in general food market but yu will need to go to a health food market occasionally. Depending on your taste buds, you will findsome meals delicious and others soso.

This Cookbook is Awesome
This book is awesome. After loosing 30 lbs on a name-brand diet plan which used low glycemic index foods in their products, I decided to try just eating low glycemic foods and see if I got the same results. I actually lost 10 lbs in 18 days eating the recipes from this book. On the diet program I was only loosing 1-2 lbs a week. I have made 21 recipes from this cookbook and liked them all except 1. I hate to cook but I found myself looking forward to making the next meal from the book. I made the Baked Chicken Wing recipe on page 34 of the cookbook for church and people were fighting over who was going to get the last one. This cookbook is a winning!!!!

Glycemic Index Saved My Life
I purchased this book because I was following the Glycemic Index for six months before purchasing this book and all my metabolic numbers (BP, Chol, Sugar Levels) went down. In turn, it put my CRP to normal after three years of being high. I was excited to buy The Gycemic Index Cookbook and learn how to eat this way forever. The receipes are delicious and easy to prepare. Most all the food is not something you have to go to another country to purchase; most of it is in your refrigerator anyway. This works! I have been researching Glycemic Cookbooks for six months and this is, by far, the best! Thanks so much!

using on kindle=:(
Excellent book, however impossible to use it on the kindle. No easy way to look up recipes. If you bookmark a recipe, have to know the location code number. I will never purchase a cookbook for the kindle again.As far as book content, love it. Easy recipes with available ingredients. The little lessons are informative & interesting.

Good cookbook
This cookbook is great...has a lot of well balanced meals! Just seems counterproductive to buy a cookbook to help you achieve better health but it's full of artificial sweetners. If I used artificial sweetners I would have given it five stars but I don't, however it's easy enough to just substitute it with the sweetner of your choice. I highly recommend this cookbook.

Tasty, Real Food!
So many low-GI/GL cookbooks call for ingredients the average home cook don't keep on hand, but this cookbook uses things straight from the pantry. We have had it for three days, and made two dinners from it with great success. Tonight we had chicken and baby eggplant with peanut sauce, and it was delicious! The night before last, we made some steak and mushroom skewers for company, and everyone enjoyed them. Just browsing through the cookbook, I have found several recipes (including sandwiches and party appetizers) that I can't wait to try!

Meh
Didn't care for the information/recipes in here. A lot of the recipes in here were either extremely basic, or used a lot of strange/expensive ingredients. Most of the information of Low GI is extremely basic as well. Glad I didn't pay a lot of money for it. I don't think I would even recommend it to someone who knows nothing about Low GI diets. I would just say get a better book.

No Table of Contents included in Kindle version!
Had I known this in advance, I would not have ordered it on my kindle. Very hard to look through for recipes without the important table of contents--especially an electronic version. Come on guys!!!
