Rather Is THE QUEEN
If I want to impress people with good food, Rather’s cookbooks are the ones that I use. The recipes are flawless. I have hundreds of cookbooks. If I had to pick five and get rid of the rest, Rather’s cookbooks would make the cut!

Wonderful Recipes, a lot of alcohol
I have all the Pastry Queen recipe books and LOVE them all. This book is as wonderful as the others as far as the quality of recipes go. In particular I have loved the Hostess with the Mostest Cupcakes, Cocoa Cloud Whipping Cream, and Beans a la Charra. I am a little disappointed, however, in the number of recipes in the book (probably about 25% of them) that contain alcohol as an ingredient. For those of us who don't drink alcohol, it makes many of the recipes unworkable. If it weren't for this fact, I would give it a 5 star.

Fabulous Cookbook
I have been a Rebecca Rather fan from the start, but often find that as authors write mutliple cookbooks, they never live up to the first one. Not the case here! I have all of Rebecca's cookbooks and love every one. Move over Ina! I have made multiple recipes from Pastry Queen Parties, but none are as fantastic as the Maple Pecan Butter thins. I have new status with my friends with these fabulous cookies. I have made them 6x in two months, at least! The queso is very good and there are numerous others that I want to try. I can't wait for the next Pastry Queen cookbook.

Another good book from the Pastry Queen
Rebecca Rather and Alison Oresman have done another great cookbook. These party recipes are adaptable for a variety of occasions, from parties to at home dining. The writing is informative and interesting and catches the spirit of celebrations. Indexed and complete with lovely photographs. Instructions and ingredient lists are clear and easy to follow. This book is a fine follow-up to Pastry Queen and Pastry Queen Christmas. Need not be limited to Texas parties!

This cookbook rocks!
I love this book! So far I've made the watermelon salad, rustic bread salad, campenacha and curried rice salad. I've brought these things to potlucks and gotten a lot of requests for the recipes. It really is a party cookbook because a lot of the recipes, as written, serve 10-12 people. The Pastry Queen really packs a LOT of flavor into her food. Oprah should hear about her because she's into lots of flavor too. She would love her food. I've gone back and bought her other two books because of "Parties". Thanks Pastry Queen!

Must-Have cookbook!
This is a very well-written recipe book that reads more like a friend's collection of helpful hints and tips for successful parties. She has some rather unique ideas, themes, and recipes and the book overflows with colorful photos. This is not a cookie-cutter cookbook!Although some of the recipes are too sophisticated for my tastes, most are versions of down-home comfort foods -- usually with a unique twist either within the recipe or in the presentation.

Reliable as always
I have all 3 of the Pastry Queen cookbooks, and have discovered you can rely upon them to be your fall-back recipe for every dish they cover. My whole family loves it when I get a new cookbook of hers, as they know lots of good food will soon follow.Off the top of my head, I know we've had enchiladas, beans and rice from this one, plus the home-made Hostess cupcakes, while looking difficult, were out of this world delicious and easy.
