The most beautiful film score ever!
MIMIC is the most beautiful score ever.Almost 20 years old and its as fresh and exciting as when it was first available.Since I collect the actual MIMIC Judas Breed creatures,it has a great appeal to me.Its a terrific gift with the dvd/blu ray idea, too.

Beltrami's most beautiful score
Yes, it is ! Of course, Hellboy came after and is also a very good score. This limited edition is presenting the nearly entire music composed for that funny movie. A great symphonic score with choir. A must !

Creative and fun early effort from Beltrami
MIMIC was director Guillermo Del Toro’ first American film, a sci-fi/horror thriller which starred Mira Sorvino and Charles S. Dutton in a plot that pitted them against bug monsters running amok in the New York subways. Unfortunately for him, he experienced a lot of interference in regards to the final product. Despite that, though, it was the first film where he collaborated with composer Marco Beltrami. Beltrami had been a favorite of Dimension Films’ producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein, having just broken through with SCREAM a year prior. This film was Beltrami’s chance to showcase what he could do on a slightly bigger canvas and he didn’t disappoint. While the film showcases what would become tropes of Del Toro, it also showed what devices Beltrami would use for similar projects.“Main Title” starts the album with a haunting soprano, a device he had used in SCREAM that introduces a falling string figure and an aggressive brass theme. “Race to the Subway” is the first action track, an exciting percussion-led piece that was reworked into the score for HALLOWEEN H20. One of the distinct features of the score is the use of a tango, first introduced in “Slow Tango” and then in “Manny’s Tango”. Some of the techniques here are similar to those used by Elliot Goldenthal and Christopher Young but Beltrami infuses them with his own musical personality. The climactic cues, “Confronting Terror” and “The Lucistic’s Alive” raise the tension while “Re-united” serves as a great finale. “End Credits” reprises the thematic material and “La Cucaracha” is a funny song to close out the album.Though Varese Sarabande released a deluxe edition of the album not that long ago, this album is a perfect encapsulation of the score’s best features. It shows what prowess Beltrami has in the horror genre and why he is still employed in it today.

Haunting and uplifting all in one sweep!
Mimic as a film is magnificently scary and it's music score by Marco Beltrami (Scream) carried the movie to the darkest realms and lifted it to the heavens. As a cd in it's own right it's one of the most haunting, visual musical scores I've listened to in quite a while. Beltrami has an uncommon knack of telling a tale with each cut, it's so easy to imagine yourself drifting into the darkness, the sadness and then being thrust into the light. It's melodies can sometimes pull at your heartstrings and yet send spindles up your spine. As a screenwriter I've listened to this CD while working and it's helped me to tell my tale, it's strength in conjuring up an air of menace is astounding. Buy this cd if you like good haunting scores that can set you alight!

Very scary
After watching MIMIC, I wanted to see if they released a score for this movie. I was glad to find it was here on Amazon and I'm glad I bought it. It is worth every penney. Beltrami knows just what to do to make the movie scary, and playing this CD at the right place at the right time will have you looking to your left and right, making sure nobody is there because this wonderfully written score will have you too scared to think. Try making your own movie in your head while your doing this. Usually a movie is made and a score is created. But with Beltrami's music, all you have to do is listen and then make your own movie! I recommend this along with his 2 Scream soundtracks! I hope Marco Beltrami does this good with Halloween H2K coming 2001! Go BELTRAMI!

One of Marco's best.
Excellent music and sound quality. One of Marco's best. I wish he composed more music like this rather than relying heavily on electronics.
