Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot

Interesting read...
Having felt (for years) that I was either born in the wrong era, or had maybe lived/died during WWII myself. When I mentioned this to a friend one day, they recommended that I read this book. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the subject, of "reincarnation" myself, especially how it might/might not tie in with modern religious beliefs, but I am open minded to the possibility of it in general.Reading what this family saw and heard, from their young son, and the confirmations that they found while doing their research (with the father trying his best to disprove) was really interesting. Reading about the Veterans and family's responses when they learned of James was quite touching.I recommend this book, and suggest that one reads it with an open mind to the subject.

Damn! This was an incredibly good book!
This is the most amazing book that I have read in many, many years (and I have read many thousands of books in the past 7 decades). IMHO, it provides absolute proof of reincarnation and past lives. From the scientific point of view of the laws of probability, the chance of all the matches between the past real events and the child’s events being a coincidence is infinitesimally small. I strongly recommend this book to everyone on the planet. To the authors - extremely well done!! Thank you for the memorable story.

Fascinating, thought provoking subject...not very well written
This book really made me think about the possibilities of what happens when we die. A two year old child wakens night after night with horrific nightmares of being trapped in a burning plane. On top of this, he begins coming out with detailed information about World War II planes and such that no child that age would have any knowledge of. His parents become frantic to find out what is troubling their son. It's interesting that his father, as a devout Christian, struggles with the concept of reincarnation, but eventually gets caught up in researching the details that his son has provided. People and places were not only verified, but the family was actually able to identify the pilot by name and locate others who were still living who remembered him as well as his sister. The child was able to name names and locations that were verified. It was certainly compelling and definitely made me want to believe that there is life after this one.The downside of the book is that it was co-written by his mom, who was not a professional writer. It was not especially well written and was what what I'd describe as moving in fits and starts.."lurchy".I will say that it's worth reading.

A Child’s Nightmares Lead to an Incredible Story.
If you ever wondered if all those cultures that believe in reincarnation might actually be right, this book, Soul Survivor, is a must read for you. I’ve been told that it is the best documented case for reincarnation in the United States.I believe it. This incredible story about James Leininger began with his nightmares starting around when James was 2 years old. Thanks to “choosing” the right parents, he got a mother who listened carefully to what he was screaming over and over. She recognized that it wasn’t gibberish but rather “… “ Airplane crash ! Plane on fire ! Little man can’t get out ! ” He kept repeating this same thing over and over. His father Bruce was slower to recognize that all of the interesting “coincidences” and uncanny statements that came out of this toddler and later kindergartner were examples of knowledge from a previous life as a U.S. Navy pilot. For Andrea it was a bit easier because she had the Scoggin clan, her mother and sisters who were more open minded to New Age paranormal. Her mother introduced Andrea to Carol Bowmans book, Children’s Past Lives: How Past Life Memories Affect Your Child. The stories in this book reassured her about her experiences with her son.Fortunately for the sake of this book’s documentation, however, Bruce had a strong Christian background that was at odds with the idea of reincarnation. Thus, for his own peace of mind, he did extraordinary and extensive research trying to find a way to prove that his son’s off-hand and uncannily accurate comments were something else than the reincarnation his wife and her support group of mother and sisters agreed James was drawing from. The information from James came from his nightmares, casual comments such as at a museum, drawing, names he gave his G.I. Joe toys, and more. Interestingly, one of the earliest details from what James told them was that he crashed in a Corsair seemed to be wrong for the first couple of years. I found it exciting how that detail finally got proven too.The research provided an extraordinarily detailed story here. Fortunately, it is also a beautifully written and fascinating story. I grateful that my Air Force Academy classmate recommended it.

Good Read
Well written, follows the path with lots of details to showing how the little boy could be the reincarnation of the air man. Most of our friends and family are reincarnationalists so we do not need proof but for a beginner it is an excellent book, one of the best I have read.

Past-life memory
The concept of past-lives and rebirth are only prevalent in SE Asia and Indian subcontinent, where the religious concept is based on ancient theories, constructed on human experiences. This book challenges the Abrahamic religions whose concept of life and soul are limited and described as "straight-line" as against the Dharmic (Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Shinto, etc) where soul has circular life which continues to reborn till the "Karma" is complete and the soul joins the Brahma, free of rebirths. An eye-opener and gives enough to rethink and introspect the newer concepts of religious doctrines.

Mind-blowing!
This book was mind-blowing. I don’t think I will ever see the world in the same light again.

I couldn't put this down.
I picked up this book from the bookshelves of the waiting room in our local hospital, while waiting for my Dad who was having some treatment. I have an interest in both WW 2 aviation stories and also reincarnation/ past lives,so I thought I would look up the book later. Having read the reviews I was prepared for the details around Andrea and Bruce, some of which I agree seemed a little bit unnecessary but I think that they help you to get an insight into their beliefs and values. I found that the telling of James' story was handled sensitively and the personal battle that his Father Bruce experienced to find acceptance was not only intriguing, but became the driving force behind their quest to piece together the story behind their son's nightmares. As the book progresses the details supplied by young James as casual facts thrown into conversation or providing deeply personal insights to survivors of the lost James are very interesting. Whether you believe or not, this is a fascinating read, which will make you think. If this is a hoax, then it is on the grand scale involving some very credible, brave and I would say no nonsense people in the case of the Veterans and family members. Read it and make up your own mind. As the saying goes, "Out of the mouth of babes".........
