When we set out to design this bed, we wanted to produce an air mattress that was military grade, durable, super tough material that can withstand the rigors of tough use and abuse in an outdoor environment that is still comfortable enough that you'd let your own mother sleep on it. After almost a year in engineering, development and production, Smart Air Beds is proud to introduce the Smart Air Beds Ultra Tough Twin Size Raised Air Bed. Raised 16" off the ground, this air bed is exactly what you're looking for if you are planning a weekend tip in the mountains or a multi-month relocation due to a home remodel. The beds durability comes from a unique PVC/polyester oxford laminate blend that makes the bed less susceptible to punctures. It has a 300 lb. weight capacity, so it is certainly suitable for one adult. The entire bed has expertly electronically welded seams for long lasting quality. Its cross beam design (pockets of air run perpendicular to the users back) provides exceptional support and comfort. After charging, the included handheld rechargeable pump can have the mattress ready from box to bed in about 2 minutes. It can also be inflated with any standard A/C air bed pump (sold separately). The bed uses standard twin sheets (not included). When you're ready to pack the item up, simply open the patented 2-in-1 valves to release the air, roll and fold and store the item neatly in the included storage bag (which is the size of a gym bag).

An ok mattress for the in home guest, but not so much for camping.
On first opening this product 3 months ago it had a small leak but luck for me the leak was internal between the upper and lower compartments inside the mattress so it held air just fine once it was inflated. This mattress is the perfect size for a two person tent, however it doesn't have a standard shape for the inflation holes and you will need to jury rig something to fit it. I was using a manual foot pump inflation device and so ended up using some sections of the pipe from a small vacuum cleaner and some duct tape, but yeah you get the picture, this mattress is not easy to inflate in remote situations where you can't rely on the battery powered device that comes with the mattress. The mattress is very tall and you only need the bottom section of the mattress if camping.I would recommend this mattress to any one who has a guest coming to stay with them, but I wouldn't recommend it for camping due to its extra weight, height, and the difficulty in getting it to inflate manually.

It's probably not the air mattress' fault but my boyfriend totally deflated it within an hour of bedtime the first time we tried sleeping on it together. In all fairness, the dude is 6'7" and weighs 265 pounds. I had previously slept on it very comfortably for a long weekend camping with my more reasonably sized ex boyfriend. I loved that it was so thick and high off the ground (the mattress, not the boyfriend). It also inflated easily (Again, the mattress, not the boyfriend). However, it will not hold an average sized lady a giant who wears a size 17 shoe, so don't even try it. Everything probably would have been great with it for years had I not fallen for the guy at the top of the beanstalk. I have since purchased a tri fold foam mattress on Amazon. It's a pain to transport and store but it's very comfortable, it's giant proof, over night guests love it, it will never spring a leak and need to be replaced, and it fits great in my new seven foot tall tent, also purchased on Amazon.

the air mattresses that don't hold air pressure even without any load at all...
Very disappointing. I received two twin size mattresses on a Friday afternoon. I was very excited to unpack them. I plugged the portable air pumps as indicated and I used an AC powered air pump that I purchased separately. First impressions in order:- 1.The quality of the seams, the way they are glued together and finished is rather rough and uneven. It looks like a cheap job where quality control and aesthetics don't matter much, if at all.I inflated and deflated each mattress three times, with a 15-20 minutes pause in between.- 2. The valve seems flimsy and not well designed. By the time it closes quite a bit of air escapes after the removal of the air pump. After the third inflation I left the two mattresses inflated side by side overnight. Saturday morning, basically less than 12 hours later, one of the mattresses was significantly softer, about half the volume of the other. I inflated it again using the portable air pump that came with the mattress and I noticed how adequate the fully charged air pump is. That was the only positive impression!I left the mattresses inflated without any load a second night and I checked them Sunday morning. To my bitter disappointment, they were both more than half deflated.I have a much cheaper no brand air mattress purchased from the campground store that holds its pressure for about 3-4 days. There is nothing even remotely tough about these "ultra tough" mattresses. I wonder why do they keep selling them without changing the valve model.

Great Materials and Workmanship But Poor Design
High Quality Materials and Workmanship but...THE GOOD:1) Thick, Durable PVC - As "Ultra Tough" as advertised (the toughest of any airbed I've owned).2) Very Well Made - Have owned over a half dozen air beds (Serta, Coleman, Insta-bed, Simply Sleeper, etc.) and this one proved as well constructed as any other I've owned if not #1.3) Holds Shape Very Well - Little to no stretching or ballooning after several months of use.4) Comfortable (In the center of the mattress) Good back support.5) Decent Pump works well.THE BAD:1) Raised Outer Edge combined with the concave top and bottom surfaces forces users to roll to the middle.Great if you have a young child (or adult) that tends to roll off of the bed during sleep. Not Great if you like a little space to roll around without elbowing your co-sleeper in the head when you raise your arms to roll onto your side. Two adults will find themselves sleeping (and waking) shoulder to shoulder whether intended/desired or not.2) Probably will be even more confining for people over 6 feet tall. The raised edges (and concave top and bottom surface) not only forces your body to the middle but your head and feet also seek the flatter surface in the center of the mattress even in sleep.3) Bed Height seems lower than some air mattresses owned in the past which makes it slightly less comfortable to get on and off the mattress.THE VERDICT:Great Materials and Workmanship but CANNOT RECOMMEND this Smart Air Beds Ultra Tough Inflatable Air Mattress.I hope that the manufacturer re-designs the bed without either the raised edges or the concave surfaces.I'd also suggest the Smart Air Bed designers also increase the length, the width, and the height by 2 to 3 inches.

I've had mine for over a year now and it has done rather well! A toddler decided to make this his trampoline for an afternoon and it still holds its shape and all air. The pump that comes with it is cool because it has built in rechargeable battery however it takes forever to charge.

and having those last 6 weeks of constant use was the best I could expect
Was using air beds primarily because I was home only 6 days of every 3 weeks, but ended up getting sick and was home for almost 2 years. At first, I kept buying regular air mattresses at a hardware store, and having those last 6 weeks of constant use was the best I could expect. I didn't want to buy a normal bed, because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to move it if I had to give up my home.I found this on Amazon and placed the order based on the description. Fulfilled every promise. It lasted for a year and a half before I ever had to add air for the first time. That's daily use. Very rugged, you'd have to try very, very hard to puncture it. Very comfortable, portable, and even came with a chargeable cordless pump. Love this thing. Will buy one again when I find the need.
