I am not happy with how long this cover has lasted under ideal ...
We purchased this cover from In the Swim for our Saltwater Pool. In less than 2 years the cover started dry rotting. Here is the correspondence from and to the warranty dept.Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2017 5:32 PMTo: Cover Warranties <[email protected]>Subject: RE: Pool Cover warranty customer number 5275501Dear Warranty Dept,Thank you for your copy of the warranty. I have returned to you a copy of the original invoice, showing that we purchased from you a solar cover for the pool cover that was used religiously when the pool cover was not on the pool, so that negates the sun damage while being stored. Now for some background:We purchased this property in 2013 and completely renovated it in 2014, which included resurfacing the pool with marcite and changing the pool sanitizing system to saltwater with a salt cell and computer board from Hayward. This system, as you know, regulates the chlorine level and we keep it at 3ppm or less . In addition to that, my caretakers, who live next door in a house I also own, take a sampling of the water at least twice a week to Pinch – A – Penny in St. Augustine Florida to make sure the correct stabilizer, acid levels, etc. are correct. I can get paperwork from them to prove this, if I must. So that debunks the bubble damage theory you mentioned. The “tears or cracks caused by the claimant” is because the cover has gotten brittle to the touch and cracks when you grab it to unroll it on to the pool. Not worried about the fading, it’s Florida sun.I don’t have any animals near the cover, as it is a fenced yard.My only conclusion is that the material is inferior. I am not happy with how long this cover has lasted under ideal conditions and storage. This is not about the money, it is about the product. Please advise.TimFrom: Cover Warranties [mailto:[email protected]]Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2017 4:15 PMTo: Tim and LynneSubject: RE: Pool Cover warranty customer number 5275501Dear Mr & Mrs. Campbell,Thank you for your recent inquiry. We have attached a copy of the warranty for your records. This also has your order information on it. A copy of the warranty was also included in the shipment We have had our specialists review the images and have determined that your cover is showing bubble damage. This would not be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. The warranty does not cover the following:•Bubble Damage: This occurs when the bubbles on the solar cover start to fall off. This is a chemical problem and often caused from the pool water not being properly balanced. Sanitizer levels should be in the recommended range.•Fading or color bleaching out.•Tears, rips, or cracks caused by the claimant.•Damages caused by exposing the solar cover to the sun while removed from the pool (improper storage).•Damage caused by misuse or animals. We apologize for any inconvenience.Thank you,Warranty Dept. This is an inferior product. I am in the market for a pool heater. Needless to say I will not be buying from "In the Swim". The warranty on this product is as inferior as the solar cover itself. Don't waste your money.

While the price might seem great for a 16 mil, this cover is a VERY POOR value.
"The warranty only covers true seam separation and delamination. We have had our specialists review the images, and have determined that your cover is showing bubble damage/rips/tears. This type of damage is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty." If you notice the high number 22% of 1 star rating making up the 3.5 star average, you can see that the cover has failed in a very short time for about 1/4 the users. In my case the 16 mil clear did not keep my pool as warm as a 12 mil blue that I had used in the past, AND this one failed in 1.5 seasons. Their warranty is so limited as to be useless and that is not viewable until after the product arrives. If you are sure your pool cover will not be left in the sun, or rolled up and stored in the sun, then maybe it would last as long as a thinner cover. It takes a lot of work to cut and install a pool cover, and this one was never worth the work from day one as it did not keep the pool warm. The disintegration when we opened it this spring was dis heartening and the "limited manufacturer warranty" is too limited to be called a warranty. I would strongly recommend you buy a pool cover with a real warranty.

UPDATE 1 yr later. Falling apart and disineigrating
UPDATE AFTER A FULL YEAR***The cover has bubbled up in many areas, causing water to get inbetween the bottom and top layers. Several of the hexagon bubble pieces have fallen apart. This leaves a huge mess in the pool, skimmer and pump. The cover is in 4 sections, glued together. the 2 outer sections have separated. Because of the falling apart and the water getting in between the layers, it is a huge chore to get this rolled up on the reel.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. You will regret it in a year. For the price, you get a solid deal. I have the 20x40 size and to make it wider, the manufacturer attaches separate pieces that are about 2 feet wide, to either side. After 2 weeks of some intense sun, one of the sides started to separate. It's not a really big deal, so I'm not going to bother with returning it.As far as if it works, well it works great. My pool is about 39,000 gallons (20x40 and a 10' deep end). After a week of 100+ degree weather, the temperature raised from the low 70's to 91 degrees. Cut down on evaporation considerably during that week as well, which saves on chemicals. It doesn't come with any designated spots to attach a strap kit to. I ended up using contact glue and gluing it to my old pool cover reel and it stuck pretty well to it.Only other complaint is that it is packaged upside down in the box. Meaning, when you take it out and start to unfold it, the bubbles are facing upward, so the entire cover had to be turned over, which at this size was a pain.

Excellent heat transfer, low-moderate durability
I purchased this product in September of 2012 for our Southern California pool. We basically left the cover on 24x7. This is the 1st pool we've owned and the 1st time we've purchased a pool cover. The pool does not have a heater and the expected installation price was $4500-5k. Simply not worth the investment...The heat transfer of this product was amazing and in fact I was surprised myself. Our pool was easily ready to swim in by late April / early May 2013. By mid-summer, we couldn't keep the pool on all of the time as the temperature began to approach 85 degrees. After the fall, we went back into hibernation with the pool cover into 2014.By April/May again, the pool was warm and ready to swim, BUT every time we took the pool cover off, we'd find thousands and thousands of little plastic bubble caps all over the pool. While the cover was intact and solid, it was the bubbles that disintegrated and thus the reason we dropped it in the recycling bin (I think they do recycle it?).Overall, I'm not sure what we plan to do for this winter. This is in fact the reason I am writing here. It may be that this is the way solar covers go and they're essentially replaced every two years OR there is a better product which I have not yet found.
