Great Learning Tool For Children
I purchased this book for my 8yr old who is having such a hard time dealing with the divorce b/n his dad and I. We have been divorced for over 5 years and the older he is getting, the more confused he is, along with questions for his parents. I discussed buying my son something that could relate to his level regarding divorce. When I found this book, we were both thrilled b/c he not only reads the book, but he gets to draw in it, and he loves art. My son was excited to receive his book, but his father was not. His father told him that this book is "inappropriate". I have no idea how that is possible. The book is in our son's age group! I have been going through a terrible 5+ year custody battle with a possessive ex. The only one getting hurt is our son. And this book would help him and other children understand how much they are loved and how a divorce has nothing to do with the children.

Great for therapy!!!
As a child therapist I am always looking for ways for kids to express themselves without always talking. This is a great book that gives prompts & is easily copied (State therapist-I can't purchase one per client).

Good tool
I use this in counseling elementary age students. Guided drawing like this seems to work well with some children, not well with others, but can be very adaptable for different ages. I find it's a good way to start conversations with many students, and the drawing process itself seems to be very helpful to some. I really like pages on feelings; these are pretty much the same as some pages in Heegaard's other books.I will note that although the title says "Separate" many pages use the word divorce, so it gets tricky to use with my students whose parents are separated but not divorced. I just pick and choose the pages that don't say "divorce" or use the other pages to inspire me for topics.

Great book!
As a Clinical Psychologist I am always looking for books & things I can use in therapy with kids. I was delighted to come across this book & get it for a great price on Amazon! It arrived super quick& I plan to use it in a group I run for kids whose parents have separated or are getting a divorce. It has great pages that can be used & the kids can draw in them whatever they want to show how they are feeling! It's a great book for any therapist to use but also for a parent to buy for a child if they are experiencing divorce.

This is such a great resource !
I am a children's counselor. I have worked in a variety of settings for 26 years. I have been using this workbook for several years now. It works for kids of different ages. The workbook helps kids through different stages of grief to get to the place of acceptance when their parents are separating. It helps them understand that what they are feeling is normal and other kids feel it too. I really appreciate this tool and use it often!

Tough Book, but great exercise
If you don't have this conversation with your child (during a separation or divorce) they WILL make up their own reasons . . . and they will blame themselves. This book allows you and your child to have a tough, but necessary conversation. Honestly, it was a bit emotional to go through this book with my son, but raising a kid in this kind of circumstance isn't easy (not that raising a kid is easy in the first place).Price and shipping were all as expected and worth the price. Both Amazon and the seller deserve kudos for offering a great book at a good price.

Decent workbook for post-divorce children
This workbook addresses a number of issues faced by children dealing with divorce. A drawback would be that it is designed as a workbook for only one child, so someone working with children would have to order multiple copies.
