Not quite what I was expecting, but is an interesting read for historical and turn of the century recipes!

Such a unique find! Some of these recipes are easy to make and only require a few ingredients

Antiquated recipes. Fun to read. Translations of amounts and procedures are necessary. I'll be looking for another book.

I thought this would have more historic information, but there are several recipes I'm interested in trying. Written in an older style so if you have trouble deciphering measurements, winging it a little or do not have experience reading older cookbooks this might not be for you. This book would be a great gift for a history-loving foodie from the UK or someone just returning from a great trip to Scotland like me!

Quite a nice, older compendium of recipes, in a facsimile edition. I have yet to try any recipes out, but am anxious to do so and enjoy sitting down and just reading through it. My only wish would be that it came as a hardcover.

My son got me this cook book as a gift, knowing my passion for history and traditional foods. I am thrilled to see these traditional recipes in print and available to share with countless clients returning to traditional foods and cooking for their health. It is so very important for us to preserve our history especially when it comes to traditional foods.

Keep a magnifying glass handy. The print is so small that most fractions are incredibly difficult to read without one. Readers, bi-focals and 20/20 vision all failed to read most fraction measurements. On the plus side, some great recipe ideas! Unfortunately, the small print is too big a drawback for me to bother trying them. I'm looking for a new book.

Great look back at auld recipes and remembering Mum making most of them

This cookbook is a total sham. The recipes are from people in places such as London, England and every other page almost is an advertisement from an old newspaper out of Glasgow or some such. I started reading it looking for Gaelic language as I might have expected from a book published by An Comunn Gàidhealach. There was nothing and that was my first clue. From there, NONE of the recipes were from the Highlands and Islands. There are a few token pages in the back of the book in the Gaelic and that's it. This book is a SHAM. Don't waste your money. I'll be looking for mine back. Total disappointment.
