Islam in the School of Madina

Excellent translation!
Excellent introduction in English to the Maliki madhhab, and a great translation! May Allah reward the translator and the various commentators and ibn Ashir himself, amin.---Mufeed al-‘Ibad, of which this book is a translation, is a summation of all the previous commentaries on the work of Ibn ‘Ashir on Ash‘ari ‘aqida, Maliki fiqh and Junaydi tasawwuf and is augmented not infrequently by the author’s own subtle understanding of the finer aspects of the ‘amal of the people of Madina.Ahmad ibn al-Bashir al-Qalaawi ash-ShinqeetiShaykh Ahmad bin al-Bashir al-Qalaawi ash-Shinqeeti (1216 AH/1802 CE – 1276 AH/1853 CE), whose lineage can be traced to Abu Bakr as- Siddeeq, came from a family and tribe in present day Mauritania renowned for its knowledge and active implementation of the deen. Although he himself refrained from any sufic commentary on Ibn Ashir’s work, he was recognised as a wali by the men of this science around him.

Islamic Community of Medina
May Allah bless The Shaykh for writing this and Dr. Asadullah Yate for it's translation. This is a exhaustive work on Ibn Ashir's "Murshid Al-Muin" and I do mean exhaustive. The English translation is superior! This book is detailed and has depth. This book is not meant to be read fast. It is meant to be read over a year or more. One will know how the "people of madina" practiced Islam. The book start's with Aqida or Islamic Beliefs and then moves on to purification, salat, etc, etc. This is a pricey book but well worth it and most importantly it is a "classical text".

Excellent, but not for the faint-hearted
This is not such a basic text. It is, instead, a commentary on one, Ibn Ashir's Murshid al-Mu'in. It provides the Arabic of Ibn Ashir in a clear, vowelled print; a translation of Ibn Ashir; and a commentary (at great length — this is a big book) by a Mauretanian scholar of prodigious learning. It is not clear to me that you could take this up on your own and become an orthopractic Maliki, but it would be a good reference for anyone further along needing deep background.

Exceptional book
Good quality paper . Beautiful looking book . And the content is very well written in understandable English . This book is remarkable as the author is meticulous and intended it for the beginner and also for the advanced .It is a blessed book in my opinion and the translator is also meticulous and honours the book well. The book has sub headings about all aspects of the Deen . And it is quite clear and easy to understand . It is a very thick volume . I highly recommend this book .

Great book I just wish the different topics were seperated and not all morphed together into one text. Its a bit much to read
The book is very good for Malikis who are English Speaking and its very detailed in its explanation. The only criticism I have is that there is too much text. The publishers seemed to have crammed in at least 2 books worth of text within one book, and and there is no bullet points or seperate headings seperating the different topics. For example the Fards of salat rather than typing it like this:1)2)Etc.. its just put into one whole page and actually gives me a slight head ache reading becuase its too much.
