ERA Door Lock Gearbox Case 35mm Backset Upvc Laird Saracen Surelock

I ordered this item because my front door locking mechanism developed a fault. You needed to have a key in the lock and turn it from inside the door, in order to open the door. Before the fault developed one simply had to turn the door handle and the split spindle allowed the door to open. The problem was having to remember to take the key out each time otherwise you could not get back in from the outside. I spent a lot of time looking through all the various mechanisms on sale and to the best of my ability this looked as if it would do the trick. I ordered it (as my locking system is a Saracen brand) and awaited its arrival. The delivery was very quick, the packaging was excellent and I thought I was a happy ,an until I came to fit it. Yes it fitted the aperture, yes the 35 mm width worked perfectly with the handle and spindle BUT, the one thing none of the pictures show you, is the mechanism sideways on when you can see if the lugs marry up with the second and third locking mechanisms. Whilst the item now locks the main mortise and spring loaded catch mechanism it is impossible to get it to work the upper and lower mortises. I have temporarily had to remove those parts of the door and will have to resort to getting a double glazing fitter in to carry out the repair in order for my door to be secure with three mortises bolts working. To carry out this task oneself is relatively easy if you want to save money but identifying the correct replacement item is difficult because the pictures do not show the side elevation of the mechanism when the levers work the second and third locking mechanisms.in the long run it can cost you more money, as it will me.

I like it easy fit only problem is it NOT working way I want I think I need help from someone.

Fitted this lock as old one had failed. Arrived quickly and was a perfect replacement. Easy to fit and works fine. Would recommend.
