Thumbs Up in My Third Grade Class
I wanted to have chapter book reading groups in my third grade classroom. I also wanted to have something that students of all reading levels would enjoy so that we could have the entire class reading together instead of leveled groups. Higher level students didn't mind because Junie B is fun to read. My lower level students were pleased to be able to keep up with everyone in the group. I specifically purchased That Meanie Jim's Birthday as bibliotherapy for some girls who can be bullies. Meanie Jim's Birthday was a recommended book for bullying discussions. Because Junie B's bullying was not as aggressive or real life as what happens in my classroom, my targeted group of girls didn't get the connection. Over all, the students loved the book. I would recommend it for students who are just getting into chapter books. Boys don't mind reading Junie B Jones either.

Love that precocious Junie B. Jones!
In this book, Junie B.'s relationship with meanie Jim might not get her invited to his b-day party. I enjoyed the Junie B. series immensely with my older daughter and am enjoying them again now with my younger one. There is plenty humor in these books for both children and parents to enjoy. We have the entire series and read them over and over again. The books are engaging enough that my second graded reads them on her own too. My only criticism for any of these books is that the author has Junie B. saying hate, dumb and stupid quite a few times per book. I think this negativity could rub off on younger children if parents are not careful to teach their children that those words are not nice to say. I compensated by skipping over reading them when my kids were smaller. Overall, I would highly recommend these books! They are very fun to read!

My granddaughter and I got a kick out of this book!
Junie B. Jones is adorable and up to mischief in this chapter book. My granddaughter fell in love with this book and remarkably read it in a short amount of time because she was so eager to read it every night!

She likes to fix the toilet
I like this book because it is funny. My favorite part is when she loved to fix the toilet. - Lukas (7 years old)

7-year-old says: Good read
My 7-year-old says this book teaches you that you need to think about things before you make decisions. Good book but not one of her favorites (and she is quite the Junie B. Jones fan).

My review
All the Junie B.Jones books were for my granddaughter. She already had some and was very excited to get the rest of them. I, personally, wished the author used more correct English to get her message across. Children learn by example and using incorrect language (i.e. using me instead of I) makes it harder for children to learn early on what is correct.

Love them!
My 6 year old and I have been reading these books, Many people criticize for the Grammar but the character is in kindergarten, and there are her wacky and zany stories. My Daughter laughs and can't wait to find out what shenanigans she will get into next!
